Getting my 17 inch style 5s ready for refinishing. Sending them off to Montreal to be "new-ified". Then I'll be putting Nokian Hakka tires on for the winter. Now, don't be hatin'. It's a square setup. all 4 corners are 8J17 5x120, so I 'll be going with 235/45R17 size tires. Nothing fancy. Tire place mentioned the Hakka 9s but they have studs - even if they are a new "eco" type. In all of Canada, it's illegal to have studs in South Ontario. Everywhere else is legal and sometimes encouraged.

I have those tires on my style 29's. They are actually pretty good snow tires.

Yeah. If they're good enough for Winter Car Rally drivers, they're good enough for me, I guess. It turns out the Hakka 9's come without studs for the Ontario market. I'm trying to find out what the performance difference is between them and the Hakka R2s (Nokian's studless winter tire) w.r.t. Ottawa winter conditions.

Astonishing. If only things on the BMW were that easy (like VANOS).

On a different note, do you guys think my M62 is worth selling piece by piece, or as a whole? Under 100k miles on the engine

If it runs great like a champ and has almost no leaks, sell it as a whole for a really good price. If bad, then you could try sell it piece by piece.

If it runs well then sell it as a whole engine. Piece by piece will take forever to sell.

Also, did you remove the coilovers from the 525it, or did you send it to the junkyard with them installed?

Runs well, but has it's share of leaks. Valve covers at least, I think that's mainly it but I need to inspect more. I did steal the old style spring belt tensioner to replace worn ones on my 750il. I'll post the engine, and see what response I get, if I can't sell it for a reasonable price, we'll move on to selling for parts

Coilovers were one of the first things sold off of the wagon

I asked the guy if he wanted parts off of the car, or if he just wanted it as scrap weight. He said scrap weight, and it was fine if I took assorted useful parts off of it. That reminds me, I have a fuel pump with about an hour of runtime on it if anyone's interested

looks nice. I wish the previous owner didn't strip the allen head bolt holding the rotor in place so I can't take it off. Now I have to find someone to take it off and pay for the service

Is it badly rounded off? Can you still use an allen socket on it? If so, try hammering the socket on really good and then try twisting it while beating it down with the hammer. See if that helps. Otherwise, drill it out.

Or use a correctly sized EZ out. I have about 50/50 luck with those

Washed it up and went to Wednesday Night Cruise at Gilmore Car Museum. Great turnout maybe over 300 cars.
