Replaced MAF, Fan Clutchand Fan blade, I figured that it's not that expensive to prevent it from falling apart and making a hole in my hood lol

    .....

now does anybody can help me solve my SRS light on the dash, here is the picture off the screen on diagnostic tool

Battery terminal is good and intact, is there anything in that red box above the battery where optional positive cable connected?

U may need a new SRS control unit... I do... I couldn't open your pictures on my Android Samsung Galaxy using the Bimmer forum app... but I'll cross-reference them from my phone to the codes my failed unit is showing

Yeah i read it back and forth a few times. Finally got then both done, taking a break and coming back to it and it slid right into place. Like every thread says I had that "Oh really, come on why didn't it go in like this before" moment. So glad to have them done but the second one took maybe 35 min.

Just have to aim them properly and she'll be good to go!

I spent almost 4 hours trying the ship in a bottle method. Then I baked open the headlights and got them done in 10-15 minutes. Lol.

Haha I tried baking them first then realized they weren't coming apart. I have pretty big hands so it wasn't a terribly fun time but when the time comes to do it again it shouldn't be too bad.

Taking off the angel eye metal triangle helped a ton on the second light, couldn't get the socket and the nub to line up properly for the life of me. As soon as i cleared some room after taking off the fiber optics I was golden

Put in a new fan clutch into the 1998 528i, while I wait for my special thermostat gasket. It's a Behr, made in Germany. NOTE FOR THE FUTURE THAT WHEN THE CAR IS at operating temperature or hotter (I'm having minor cooling system issues), the fan CAN BE STOPPED with a rolled up newspaper.

The fan clutch I took out was...... also a Behr, Made in Germany. I guess it's still good and not the root of my problems. I believe a slow-leaking thermostat cover due to some minor pitting in the wrong places on the block, is the issue. I will be cleaning this out (phosphoric acid) and using JB Weld epoxy syringe to fill in the cleaned pits, then sanding to level and smooth the area. The special gasket is insurance.

This is what happens when you leave the car all winter in storage, and the coolant sits there - albeit minute amounts. It begins to corrode, I guess.

Spent the afternoon in the garage.
Replaced VANOS solenoid flanges, fan clutch, fixed a broken vacuum line and air pump.
    Went well no real issues.
Now that I'm done there's a terrible whirring coming from the engine. I'm assuming it's the CCV but gotta wait for someone to rev the engine while I film it.
Fan clutch is active during the first minute or so after startup. I believe this is normal. Just throwing me off since the last one never did that.
SAP functions normal and solved the noise issues I had.

Bought a driver celis taillight from a local junkyard for $25. My 97 was converted, but the contacts were rusted, and sanding them didnt keep the brake light from working intermittently or the OBC from throwing errors. Hopefully this helps.

Today I replaced my Valve Cover Gaskets. It is not a terribly tough job, just takes forever (about 5 hours for me) and you need patience as you do not want to break anything in the process of removing the valve covers. After I was done, I took the car for a drive and wow, what a difference. I had a good amount of oil on my drivers side spark plugs and I felt a loss of power but it is back now.

Not sure I will be able to feel my legs tomorrow or move my back, but I am glad I got it done!

Oil change, timing chain tensioner spring, cleaned her up, visited my old E34 to help with some work on it, and just had fun. Today was a good reminder why I got this car, when I came by my friends to help, his wife loved my new car and wanted a ride and I got it a bit sideways. I took the twisty back roads home that added another hour to a 10 minute drive. And I just tipped 100 tonight getting onto the freeway then back down. Stupid I know but I needed some joy this weekend.

And this is why I'll always own at least one car that makes me want to take the long way home.

nothing stupid with driving these cars how they were designed to be driven, sporty, spirited, and with no speed limits ... Assuming the mechanics are up to par

Updated nav version and installed a 2007 map disc for my region. Still not modern, but like incremental improvements. Still have the Grom to install later this week.

Waiting for the call to go to the shop and finish bodywork. Hoping to keep the schedule of moving the car to the paint side Tuesday and to the booth on Friday.
