I looked at it.
The old thread was towed to the archive, too big and taking up too much bandwidth.
Did not work on the M5 but took it on a short trip this weekend. Didn't encounter any breakdown or issues at all. Was worried about possible engine overheat (aux fan not working) during the rush hour time but the engine remained pretty much cool. Met blackknight530i at his house and we stayed up till 3am talking nothing but BMW's and bf.c, and we continued on our further discussion on S54 swap. I got the chance to drive his M7 and 530i and he drove my M5.
didn't get a picture but i gave her my first wash![]()

Had my driver seat re-dyed. Happy with THAT part of the job. The guy didn't reconnect the cable for the seat belt adjustment and now the connector/clip is missing. I put it back together with a couple of zip ties and that appears to be working for the time being. He also couldn't fix the seat twist. I just don't want to mess with it.
This is why I don't like people working on any of my cars.
took a break from working on customer BMW's and installed my new centerlink/inner tie rods. steering feels nice and tight now, as it should!

Replaced alternator with a reman. Bosch unit. Replaced the expansion tank and the nipple on the top of the driver's side of the radiator & the hose that connects the two.
Getting to the nut that holds down the cables on the back of the alternator is not fun to try to get to.

Installed new thrust arms with Powerflex bushings. Yeah yeah, I've heard everyone hating on the poly bushing but I like em! Even went so far as to get the black race bushings! Passenger side ball joint put up a hell of a fight but I got it in the end. Thumbs win again!
Got the auxiliary water pump changed, along with a new Nissen rad and new Febi expansion bottle. That pump was way over due...

Used "bag balm" to treat the leather seats, front and back, in both the 528i and the 540i. It's supposed to relax the wrinkles and re-moisturize the leather. I guess it depends on what sort of coating is on the leather and if it remains porous or not. It looks shiny, though. lol.
Had 2000 inspected by Strictly BMW yesterday. They found only a faulty PDC sensor and a single ball joint in need of replacement. They said there was some oil residue around the diff seal, upper oil pan, and right valve cover but no indication of a leak and seepage over 80k should be expected, no need to replace. They then brought the car to Park Place LTD, which is a 100+k car dealer here in Bellevue for a clear bra removal and TOP NOTCH detail. Very excited. Car is super straight mechanically and cosmetically. Pictures later today!
Just took my 1998 538i for a little spin. Man, that is one fun drive! It's going to break my heart to sell it to a stranger in the spring. The handling, the torque at the low end in sport's gear (3rd on the A4S270R). Just an all-around pleasure.
removed front license plate bracket, installed new trim piece after vinyl wrapping all of the impact strip all the way around with 4d carbon fiber wrap. looks much sportier. next i think i might do the bavauto lowering springs with bilsteins package deal. or maybe just get ksport coilovers.
recoded the central locking module so the doors don't lock by themselfs, and so they all unlock with the first press of the button on the key.much better

i was messing with my coding today as well. ive been trying to get the locks to lock automatically when i reach a certain speed yet every time i code it (tried all the different options) it still doesnt auto lock. the only reason i really want it to do it is because im a smoker and when i have my arm out my window the lock is always in the way.
That's what mine did, coded it so it doesn't lock.

Hey, can you post pictures of your patch job ? I just realized that I don't have adjusters on mine, and that might explain why the light is always pointing down.
