Duplicolor's vinyl and fabric paint is no joke...

And, yes, genuine BMW bumper parts are obscenely priced. ECSs M- kit is currently $3039.58. Put another way, I bought 60% of my car for that price... https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...51112498507kt/

That's a very nice effect on those style 42s

Finished the passenger door window reg job. I realized my driver's side door rattle was related to the bare metal part of the regulator hitting the metal strip behind it because of the lack of a rubber push pin.
I used the old part of the window holder rubber and jammed it between the regulator and the metal behind it, and also added the pin. Now I get a nice german thunk on both sides.
Today I didn't drive the 540. After a few days of driving it, I get used to the quickness, and I start to notice every little bump in the suspension. Solution: Drive 10 miles in a 7000 lb truck with a 163" wheelbase. I find that every time I do this, when I get back to the 540, 100 HP has been added and a full suspension refresh has been performed. I don't know who keeps fixing the 540 every time I drive the truck, but what a bonus.
Had some fun with plasti-dip today. Put some "smoke" plastiip on the turn signals, albeit I did this when I restored the headlights a months ago. I wasn't a fan of the black 18" style 42's and wanted more of an OEM look, tried the plastidip hyper-silver metallizer kit. Outcome is a bit darker than I would have liked so I may end up trying another color when this degrades, at least until I can afford to restore them professionally.

My upper radiator hose blew off the thermostat housing on my wagon on the way to work on Friday. I had been worrying about the cooling system since it has been about 80,000 miles since I swapped it all out the last time. When it blew on me on Friday, when the steam cleared up, was when I saw the upper hose had popped off. I was able to pop it back on, but it had some play between the hose and the thermostat, turned out, the lip that grabs the lip on the hose coupling had broken off, but right after I popped it on, a cool fellow Earthling pulled over just to give me a gallon of pre-mixed coolant that he had in his trunk. I'm not into religion, or anything, but I swear, he must've been God, or Jesus, or somebody important like that, or something, talk about luck! I was able to get the stuff overnight, I went ahead and did the whole thing, putting it back together, I realized that I had a brand new clutch fan from BMW, ordered it about a year ago and totally forgot about it, lol. Too bad I didn't have a new fan. But at least the Snot Rocket is back in order.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun
You should prob do the thermostat win case it blew off from being stuck closed. My upper hose started bulging the other day because of this, and rather than replace the hose twice I just replaced all of it.

Lol nah I work at the tattoo shop next door, and I'm no Macklemore.
Participated in a large caravan to a BMW meet today up north, while up there had my car tuned by Dima with the DUDMD tune. VERY pleased and recommend anyone with a 540 to get one from him, he can tune the car remotely also if you live far away. (Seattle)

I think my door rattle is from the same thing. Do you happen to have a picture of this? Are you referring to part #6?

Yes #6 is it, it got knocked out onto the bottom of the door.
Jam #7 or similar rubber piece between it, the door thud comes back better than ever before.

Going to swap the coilovers from the 530 into the 540 tonight. Going to be a long day today and tomorrow. I have enlisted the help of my wife though and a 6 pack lol.
