Finished my oil pan gasket, rubber part was hardly rubber after 170k miles and more like brittle plastic as one can expect. Bolted everything back up but snapped the last subframe bolt as I was torquing it in. Super pissed. Going to take it to a shop to have them take care of it. I can’t spend another day on my back lowering the subframe again and trying to drill that thing out. Any harm in driving with 5 of the 6 subframe bolts? I think it may be time to sell the car and just buy the m5 that I keep delaying for no good reason

I don't need an extinguisher fire cause I'll just drive it into a lake or into neighbor's pool.
Woop, ECS sending out the missing part from the order. Annoyed at the delay but there was no hassle. And on that note, i'm off to bed now. 1am for me.

Perhaps one of the most oft repeated phrases by mechanics. . Been there many times.
It's why I am going to start taking the time to run a tap thru damn near everything before hardware goes in now. Was an upper timing cover with powdercoat overspray that screwed me over. Granted I didn't thread the tensioner cap in myself (buddy helping did), but I'm pretty sure I could have made the same error myself. Both of us missed seeing the threads when the cover went on. Never checked close enough after an already long day doing the timing chain / guides.

Perks of taking a college Brakes and Suspension class. Free alignments whenever I want. And with these crappy OC streets, its definitely a perk lol.
Will be posting my next new goodie tomorrow evening. Lets just say I I'm adding some more fiber to my diet...

You lucky guy. They got a dyno?
That's an alignment rack.
I ordered control arm bushings for my E46 last week and wouldn't ya know it... one was missing, can you guess which side was the one I needed? Yep.. car sat on a jack for over a week waiting for the shipping department to correct the issue - which doesn't help because its up for sale.. so... yeah...
I actually just got done re-installing everything. I FR***ING HATE E46 suspension. What a nightmare design.

Wuuuut!? E46 is easyPeeze bro! Dayum it's the easiest suspensho I've ever worked on for the most part. You have no idea what you're (not) missing vs some other cars... On my C4 Audi the front swaybar was a loaded control arm locating member and a real bizarre beyotch to deal with...
The E46 rear ball joints are a little PITA to pull and press but almost everything else is super easy to do on the floor in a home garage.
