Polished headlights yesterday, they were all fogged up.
Also dropped my driveshaft, to replace U-joint and rebalance it.

and sadly no old BMW anymore, only high powered Seat Leon Cupra 4Drive as a daily driver.
Scored High Gloss window trim, M-Sport sills, and black grab handles, visors, and lights off a '03 540i M-Sport that showed up in my local salvage yard. Need to go get the struts off it too...
Gave her the tlc she deserved

Finally took the 540 out Saturday. Took it to the shop to replace the plugs and put my street wheels on.
While doing the front, noticed the driver coilover raised itself up an inch. So had to reset that.
Doing the driver rear, i go to take the wheel off and it's wiggling the while hub excessively. Pulled the wheel off and saw played in the upper control arm on the knuckle side. Looks like the nut got lose. So i went to tighten it, and it's just free spinning. Apparently the threads on the nut completely pulled out, with no damage to the ballpoint threads. Replaced with a new nut and all is nice and tight.
Dont forget to pull everything off every so often and check torques. Even though this was torqued to spec, ive got about 2000 street miles and 7 track days since and even with pre- and post-op checks, things still happen.
Also wiped her down after and did a quick photo shoot with a buddy of mine. Enjoy!

Jesus Christina Aguilera what a weekend.
In the middle of a ton of stuff I was supposed to do mid-day Saturday, suddenly I got a call from one of my boys that a dead '01 540i I have been long aware of was headed to the 'yard this week, and another vulture or two might be headed over at some point, so if'n I wanted stuff.. I better get over there A2theSAP.... Soo....
Drop EVERYTHING, luckily junkyard toolbag is in the car already, run over in the vert cuz thats what I was driving at the time the call came... including having dog in backseat... and proceed to just savage the poor old girl for a couple hours trying to beat the sunset and rain.
By time I was done the M3 trunk was overflowing like "gently but firmly close the lid to cram it all in" and "pile of stuff on the passenger seat so high that a radiator shroud kept sliding into my face on turns"... Thankfully I only had to drive few miles to drop the stuff off at the other house in the basement for now...
Dog was definitely all "WTF I hate this little car already and now you're cramming me in here with dirty junk?!?!". Yep. Sorry dog. Eat your kibble you'll be fine.
Pretty good results though, well worth it.
Got a load of modules for spares - stuff I didn't have like IHKA(HVAC) and radio... a MID w/ a recent BBA-Reman sticker - will probably toss that in actually because its a non-DSP and, not actually having DSP anymore, I like the idea of the cleaner buttons.
Some basically like-new factory M sill covers (badge-engineering! M sill covers = +1.37whp),
Biggest score was a factory radiator+exp-tank+shroud+hoses all w/ 2016 dates on 'em that I think probably went in barely a year ago... If I'd have had time I mighta grabbed the water pump too, it was new also...
Used working DSC/ABS module - no codes in the car when it was junked - but at worst case, if/when my ABS needs it (cuz they always do) I'll either have a core to send to BBA-Reman, or, swap this in while my core goes to them for rebuild...
Naturally I got a couple other things that I'd JUST PAID MONEY FOR at a junkyard... and these are cleaner/better than the yard ones (SMH DOH). Typical.
If I had longer I'd have taken another set of TU valve covers for 2nd set of spares, but... that's longer/messier job than I could tackle at the time... Also mighta taken a crank pulley as I've always wanted a spare to make into a crank-holder by welding a bar up to it... but definitely that was on the 'not urgent' list...
At this point though I need to totally re-org my basement "E39" shelves. As a non-car friend said to me after "you must have like a whole car down there, aside from the frame!" (by 'frame' she means 'body' and if I hadn't already tossed a bunch of stuff like seats and things, she'd be about right...) Only probably have 2/3 of a car down there really...
Then in the midst of that my domain/web/email host provider crapped the bed on me... all my personal emails were being bounced for 3 days, so in between things I'm putting in tickets and crap - which they ignored so that turned into prolonged "shop for new hosting provider, then migrate to new hosting provider, then test new hosting setup etc.".
BTW if anybody notices any problems with any of my pictures or attachments in old threads let me know.... but I think its all restored and working good (better even) now...
Hell of a weekend. Yesterday crazy too. Might need a day off today...

Put the Blizzaks on, Cleaned out the interior. Made a promise to my buddy this spring that I would sell it to him this fall because I would be done with my 1991 BMW 850 by now. Well the 850 needs a new transmission so the wagon is getting sold and I will drive the PU truck until the 850 is done.

Haha I know, but ill enjoy every second of it until it does. And if it doesnt oh well, I get to hang with you folk and the turbskies will get slapped on eventually I just know how I am and instead of prioritizing the turbo build I'll be like "the wagon needs some new wheels" *poof* goodbye manifold moneys lol.
Would rather have an E39 wagon than a turbo E36, but I've never been one for turbos so that's just my preference.
Rolled over 217k in the 540it today, sweet!

Installed new (?) TRW brake master cylinder.....and broke the left rear bleeder.
Yesterday did motor, trans, charger fluid changes, then topped off everything else incl tires.
I think id been running royal purple in the tranny.. came out surprisingly thin looking and a little dark. This time I got adventurous and went 1/2 MTL 1/2 D4+. Holy crap car shifts SO much better. I guess I can corroborate the reports that RP “wears out” over time. Even the LWFW gear noise is way improved.

Put on winter tires today. Had a chat yesterday about wheel bolt locks, I think I lost mine after putting on the last wheel and forgetting to take it off the bolt. Hoping I can find it outside in daylight tomorrow.
If not, how do I find the one I need? I know there are different versions of them, it's this one: 36136776076-2.jpg
