Installed the relatively cheaply bought driver's side M5 window switch panel with the auto-fold mirror button. I hoped the passenger side would also work, but no dice--I need to purchase the proper module that rests inside that door panel next. And don't mind the shi**y paint on the mirrors. The black stuff is leftover plastidip from a failed experiment eons ago.
On such a clean white E39, how dare you put on some dirty looking side mirrors??
I didn't know you liked listening to classical music. Here in NC I tune to 89.7FM and its all nothing but classical music 24/7.

I'm a sustaining member of the only one we have left here in Southern California: KUSC. It's almost entirely listener-funded, which means there are no stupid commercials to have to endure.
I also regularly attend concerts played by the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra as I hold a season pass and have renewed it for the past ~5 years.

Pulled the M5 out of the garage, washed it, put it back. Hoping the 528i comes back home tomorrow.

Cussed myself for buying cheap aftermarket trunk struts when one of them snapped as I closed the trunk today. They lasted less than a year. Also, after trying to use the washer fluid I discovered the pump is bad. So I have some simple 5 minute maintenance to tend to.

They seem to be doing pretty well. I took them for a canyon drive the other day to fully bed them in; pad material transferred nicely. Blue-ish haze on rotors.
They brake very well as ceramic brake pads; that is, they lack the initial grabbiness of the OEM BMW brake pads, but they have the easy progressiveness of ceramics. They are very easy to modulate smoothly, and they don't jerk in transitioning from kinetic to static friction (like when the rotors finally come to a complete stop). They handle heat very well, no change in grip or feel after a spirited drive, though I wasn't approaching track speeds.
Under heavy braking, they are way better than the OEM pads. I don't think the speedometer can keep up with the rate of deceleration, honestly. ABS intervention is easy to find if you have a zealous right foot. Even then, it's very, very easy to modulate the pressure to maintain deceleration just below ABS intervention.
Very progressive braking performance vs pedal travel/pressure. I would say the Cool Carbons bite more softly than the OEM pads, but they are more progressive. I think the stock pads are much more difficult to modulate, and are based on pedal travel. The Cool Carbons seem to be based on pedal pressure, which is good for performance driving and rev-matching (I think; stuck with an auto for now).
The squealing though... Yikes. Track-car loud. I did not reapply any brake grease; I need to do it before I go insane. Leave the windows down, and it will literally hurt your ears at lighter brake applications (like speed adjustments on the freeway, or movements in a parking lot). Heavier application (like stoplight slowing) silences the noise, and when I had them on my (garbage) ECS slotted/drilled rotors I had no noise issues with a good application of brake grease. I used Permatex's Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant (the lavender colored one) liberally on the caliper, then pressed the pads into the caliper.

Changed the Transmission and Differential Fluid on my 02 530i/5. It took a Herculean effort to break the Tranny Fill plug. It was definitely over torqued by whomever worked on it before. Before starting I noticed that the drain and fill plug on the Tranny were seated flush in the Transmission with no threads showing. When I closed everything up using the Bentley Torque spec of 37 ft-lb. The plugs were not flush, and I could still see Threads. Is this normal?

Thank you. Not an Msport. 97 540i6. eBay bumper. Spent a lot of time trying to make it fit right although it's about 1/4 inch short on the sides. I'm in college so $1k for a bumper was tough to swallow. Rather put that towards the chain guide fund.
I have the correct brake ducts and alternator ducts installed. Also fabricated an extension for the original pork shops using 1/8 ABS plastic sheet. Drilled holes on it so it can clip into the bumper from the bottom. That way everything is nice and tight and there's nothing flapping in the breeze.
I may go OEM down the line but for now the eBay bumper is fine.
Flame suit on for having an aftermarket bumper lol.

Do you have a thread on those pork chop extensions? Or at least some close ups (as long as your flame suit is ready). Everything involving fender liners, lower liners, bumper and even rocker panel is messed up to some degree on mine, to the point where I can't really even be sure whats supposed to go where when its all done. Sometimes I get very excited about fixing it all correctly, but oh boy that price tag. I keep coming back to the idea that fabricating something has to be the way to go. Would love to see what you did, especially what you used to cut / clean the cut edges. You have a beautiful car!
