ABS Sensors for 1986 E24
I replaced the shocks on my 1986 635 csi, and now the ABS warning light comes on as the car goes over 10mph.
I suspect the sensor(s) are damaged - I need a pair of ABS sensors - BMW part no. 34 52 1 179 981 - now discontinued by BMW.
Keen to get any thoughts on how to get them....
Thanks

Check the connectors well. those rubber boots can be a little tricky. Unless you yanked on the wires hard, you shouldn't have damaged the connector.

From what I have seen these are pricy and NLA from BMW. Hope they are ok.... good luck.

Before you change the sensors, check the condition of the hubs.
If the pulse rings are rusty, it will confuse the abs system.
There is a diagnostic trouble shooting guide for faulty abs.
Do a search and look for it. I'll try and find it for you tomorrow.
Come to think of it, maybe when the light cones on @ higher speeds
it's corroded hubs. Well anyway, my advice is to find the faulty part and change it.
Don't guess what it might be.

If it comes down to it, O2 salvage or Bavarian salvage will have some I bet. But again, these things are hard to kill and much more robust than their Japanese and fellow German (Audi) counterparts.
