Here is a write up on a tear down and rebuild of a heater control valve. This is the same write up as the E39 5 Series as they use the same heater control valves. I hope this helps someone get an idea of how to repair is if you were planning on doing it yourself, or just wondering what it looks like and operates. Enjoy!

Works for me, nice write up but no part #s for the new gaskets.
Anyone have a link to a HV gasket kit?
This one has a bunch of stuff that may not be needed for $70, seems like a lot just to really need the gaskets.

Many of the E38 and E39 use the same heater control valves

Not sure of the etiquette of this particular forum if you prefer new thread or ask related question in related thread.
But how do you remove the stems?
