Tucson Z3 "mini meet" Thanksgiving weekend 2015 (5 cars, but lots of pics!)

Yesterday, I had the distinct pleasure of hosting a couple of well known guys in our Z3 community, and although it was a short afternoon 'event', we had a great time discussing the finer points of all things E36/7/8.

I had met your fearless moderator (das Bimmer Breaker) over the summer as I searched out my first zed. I didn't end up buying his Boston M Roadster, but we did keep in touch, as we are only 100 miles away from each other. That same day however, I did end up buying a 2002 Oxford roadie. One month later, I purchased a 3.0i coupe, also Oxford. 30 days after that (yes, wife is really freaking out now!), I found an Oxford M Coupe. So 3 cars in 3 months... definitely some kind of disease, I am sure of it. Maybe 'broke-ass-itis'?

Anyways, the funny story is the Z3 3.0i Coupe, as my wife and I flew to Denver to pick up the car and drive it home to Tucson. While we were in Denver I was hoping to make it up to see Jon Martin (just in case you don't know the man: http://www.mcoupebuyersguide.com/) but unfortunately the timing didn't work out for us to meet up while we were in Colorado. I also couldn't swing the Dorkfest 2015 meet either, which happened right after we got home. I figured I'd see him in '16 though! Keep in mind, I've been looking at his buyer's guide websites (mostly M Coupes) on and off for at least 4 years now. I'm sure some of you are as addicted as I am, to seeing new cars come up for sale... it's actually quite interesting to follow a specific car using Jon's web interface...again, 'addicting' is the key word here.

So here we are two months later, and Jon ends up buying a Sterling Grey 3.0i auto here in Tucson. Just like my fly 'n buy trip to Colorado, Jon is now making the reverse trip with another Coupe! He and his wife flew in, picked up the car from fellow board member sometrumpetguy, and headed straight for "Oxfordland" to crash the night before hitting the road to CO. I was also able to coordinate with BB, who also was eager to meet the legend! So, another coupe was added to the roster, this one a 2000 "M52" Coupe with a very special drive-train transplant...maybe you read about this car already here on the forum

We were racing against the sun here, so please excuse the quick impromptu snaps, and also my dusty Oxfords. I've been restoring the roadster for about 3 months now, and just recently got the seats back in it so I could start/move the car...still haven't washed it since I bought it! Haven't really started restoring the M coupe yet either.
Lot's of projects here between the 3 of us! Enjoy! P.s. I want to thank my wife for putting up with us dorks and making a great dinner for us all. Jon's wife was very nice too! She accompanied my wife for a 4 hour Black Friday shopping tour - I am sure it was torture for her! LOL!

Well, it wasn't the worst picture of me...

The sun was starting to set but I think this is the best picture I took from the day. Had a lot of fun, I'll be back down there again sometime soon!

whats up with the roll over protection delete on the Mroadster? To make the speedster cover flow better with the body lines?

Good eye....yes you are correct, going for more of a classic speedster look without getting a painted tonneau/speedster cover. Also, wanted to get the extra storage space provided by the non roll hoop oddments box. I finally found a reasonably priced oddments box and the top caps, so I jumped on it. Usually, they go for around $800, but I got mine for $350.
