Yep. Traffic rarely gets to 15mph. Mostly just crawling along. That would drive me crazy. Fortunately, I live five minutes from my office, and never make the trip during morning rush.

Welp VW got the OK to sell tainted 2015 TDI. They're knocking 5k off sticker and zero percent financing. Told my dealer to get me a red SEL (top trim) with all options and a real manual. Let's see what happens

I'm currently getting around 31 to 32 mpg on my daily 20 mile commute, which is usually morning rush hour on the highway and then some city driving, pretty decent, not as low as I was hoping for, but way way better than the 24 mpg I was getting out of the Audi. But if I do just pure highway cruising without getting stuck in traffic, doing 80ish to 90ish, I manage to get 36ish mpg, if I drove a bit slower and threw on some 16" wheels, I bet I'd be hitting 39 mpg. But I consider 32 mpg to be pretty decent for a 4000 lbs car in day to day driving.

That actually really nice. I'm currently averaging 33 at 75 highway, but it drops to 19-20 ish in town.
its still leaps and bounds better than the 22 highway I got with the E34iT in manual or the 23 I got as automatic.

You are going from the 3.15?
A little math says you'll have an overall final drive of 3.41:1 in 6th as apposed to 2.62 with the 3.15. Revs ought to be a tad higher in 6th than now in 5th. Big change.
Does it make any sense to put that engine in those rev ranges?

This isn't by choice. This is a swapped car with a 4.10 already in it. Your old car is keeping the 3.15 in it. I have a spare 3.15, but haven't researched if I can swap it in.

The 530(med case) uses different axles and has a different flange.
I have a complete(sort of)pair of 540 rear control arms. Cheap as chips if you care to do all the work and cough up for freight. Might still have axles too, need to sniff around the parts stash.
