Wink My 97 E36 M3 Sedan hpde build

Introducing everyone my 97 E36 M3 Sedan build. I purchased this car 2 years back with the intention to turn it into a hpde track car mainly. Now almost 2 years later I got the balling rolling with the build. It started its life as a automatic that I converted to a manual over the course during the first year I own the car. I wish I have taken pictures of the automatic to manual conversion but I didnt have a chance to. Everything from here on out will be documented in this thread.

When I first bought the car.

I started building my exhaust this weekend with my friend derek. He did an awesome job tig welding all the vbands, piping and mufflers. The exhaust system is consist of ebay headers, 3 inch stainless piping, vbands (for the sake of easy removal), and 2 magnaflow mufflers.

I had 2 inch vbands welded onto the header exits for ease of removal.

The merge collector was also fabricated by my friend as well. Stepping from 2 inches to 2.5 inches and then finally to 3.0 inches with a vband as well.

From here it goes into a 3 inch center magnaflow muffler along with a vband shortly after the exit.

After the final vband is a 3 inch inlet, 2.5 dual outlet magnaflow muffler.

    The journey of the rollcage.

The M was relocated to his own personal workshop.

Hello raw materials, why its chromoly.

Lets get things measured out and bent.

    Measure twice and cut once.

    Here is the main hoop.

Next is the tar removal process, thank you dry ice for making the process easier.

    Rear wheel wells

    Rear floor

    front floor

    Magical CO2

Thats all for today, I will update as work progresses tomorrow.

    Enjoy

Hello everyone, is a been a busy month for me. I have did a few small things here and there to the car. I overhauled the vanos unit and it wasnt as difficult as people made it out to be for the single vanos. I have never pulled the valve cover off the engine since I bought it. I was very surprised on how clean the internal of the engine was. The owner before really did follow up on the oil changes early and used a good oil.

I finally also had the chance to sand down the paint surfaces to prep for welding in the cage. The mounting points are going to be box in like it is shown in the picture.

That is all for updates for now.

Its been a while since I have updated, Its been a busy few months.

Here are the floor mounts for the rollcage. They are made to fit snugly over the frame rail and floor itself.

Here is the main hoop with the harness bar and cross bar.

Here is the whole cage fully welded into the car.

I picked up some paint to paint the rollcage to prevent it from rusting.

Here is the cage 3/4 painted.

    thats all for now.

Any updates? Can you PM me with the cost of the cage. Looking into getting a e36 M3 sedan for the same HPDE class, maybe one day something more. Don't want anything bolt in cage but may go with a 6 point with cross/harness bar
