Cheers rich. Should look better once I fit the new springs. Good job really as I spotted both rear springs have snapped on the bottom.

Car is off the road at the moment while I sort that and a few other things I have spotted.

As you can see in the last pics. My dad after 8 months of looking has picked up a 740i with only 58k on the clock

    Hi Mike

There's quite a lot of inspiration for you and your fantastic E38 over here on the US forums! lots more awesome examples than over here

I remember in 1997 being picked up from La Guardia in NYC in my uncles then few months old 740iL and wafting back to his place in Long Island - absolutely.. awesome ! There's two E38's nearby to me I've got my eye on and know one owner quite well and the other I said hi to when I saw him at a nearby food/shisha place. If the chance arises, I will most likely get one!

Some excellent work you've done with this car/example, I was offered an earlier E32 750iL some years back for very cheap and it was fairly sound/clean/running, just not the right time at all, plus, its the E38 I'd want!

Keep up the good work and looks like you have twins now your dad has one as well - I do have some grey footrests sitting here doing nothing, they're just that bit of a squeeze in an E39 !

Looking forward to more as you get around to doing stuff!

    Cheers, Dennis!

Been a while since I have updated this. Been mega lazy with the car and crap weather or just being busy over weekends doesn't help

Have done a few things, first job was to clean and rust proof the metal fuel tank. Por-15 was used and it's had a couple of coats

Then moved onto the rear and replaced the rear arms and discs and pads

Next was the mounts for the oil filter housing, which is a common problem with the v8 and v12.

Then managed to get hold of some more
Chromeline parts. These you can't buy new so had to keep a eye out for them. Hazard switch and arm rest surrounds. Have some more chromeline parts on the way

    Real wood !

And most recently have changed the front discs and pads and fitted the H&R springs on the front. Has dropped it down just right. Was going to fit the control arms but didn't have a second 21mm spanner to hand.

Still have the rear springs to fit. All the interior is out at the back. Also got a set of tyres to fit and give it a service.

    UPDATE !!!

    Back on the road.

The car is finally back on the road. Last year unnoticed a few things that needed doing so decided to keep it off the road and do the work myself. Well did do most of it but most of the time I was lazy with it and just didn't have the time. During the time off it's had

    Set of tyres alround
    Discs and pads alround
    Front control arms
    Rear toe arms
    Rust proof fuel tank
    Fix pas leak
    Change oil filter mounts
    Front and rear H&R springs
    New bump stops alround
    More chromeline interior parts
    Front and rear droplinks
    Drive belts

Also had its MOT and it failed. It needed a new washer pump. Rear brake hoses. A brake line down the whole length of the car and over the fuel tank. I let the garage sort these issues and change the rear springs which were a bastard for them to remove due to the sls line

Just needs a 4wa but it's good to be back behind the wheel

Couple of pics. I'll take some more once the springs have settled

Have also finished covering my boot in matching navy blue carpet as the grey before looked cheap

    UPDATE

Last Saturday used the car to chauffeur one of my best friends Carl to his wedding which I was also 1 of 3 best men. Had the most amazing weekend down in sunny sidmouth. Soon as the car had the ribbon pretty much everyone was looking while driving.
