Trunk Mounted Washer Fluid Reservoir Pic Request

Hi guys I was hoping one of you could provide me with some pictures of the E31 spare tire well mounted washer fluid reservoir and specifically the fill pipe and how it is routed. Thanks!

I dont have a pic, but if you look under the car it is a black rectangular tube that goes to the center of the spare tire well from underneith the car, a tube that is part of the tank fills from the center of the tank. The fluid goes from the trunk filling cap, down under the car and back up through the center of the tank to fill.

No, USA-spec cars have no headlight washing system.

Thanks - didn't think so but saw that the OP was located in Denver and just assumed he had a US-spec car. I guess not.

He's probably trying to add it, hence asking for pics of it.

In every BMW I've owned that had a headlight washing system, and there have been many, I've ended up removing the pump, plugging the reservoir hole and disconnecting the harness because they all eventually leaked and new pumps and gaskets and filters and floats and lions and tigers and bears would never put Humpty permanently back together again.
For an option of such dubious value, it ain't worth the trouble.

I'm with you. They could have saved 20k per car by adding less crap, and spent that on the engine. :-)

Not looking to add headlight washers, I'm relocating the windshield washer reservoir to the trunk for other reasons and instead of building a reservoir its much easier to use whats been made. No reason to build it when you can buy it! Still hoping for pics guys!

You'll notice the filler hole is in the rear bumper itself, on the right side - just visible in this picture.

Thanks for the pics but again I'm hoping for pics of the actual filler tube path. Thanks!

Do you mean the one that runs from the rear bumper under into the reservoir? If so, I'll get you a photo pronto! Luckily I took my E31 with me to work today!

I'll head outside shortly and get a few pictures for you, before hand though out of interest, are you looking to retrofit this system? I don't recommend it, too complex, costs too much and whats the added value? Cheaper to buy a rag and wipe the lights clean

Not adding it to be used for headlights, gonna add it for use as a primary windshield washer tank but rear mounted to shift more mass to the rear of the vehicle (e34 m5). I won't completely keep BMWs implementation but the major parts are perfect for my goal. Along with a few other things I'm doing it gets me closer to a true 50/50 weight distribution and reduced weight with full fuel load to 3300lbs WITHOUT being a stripped out track car, in fact I've added a few luxury items and reinforcements. Thanks again for your help!

Did you ever take the pics? This topic just ended without a conclusion.

I'm curious as the E36 M3 SMG uses the same parts for the filling, but the rubber gasket/o-ring part ...177, there is no logical position to put this is. Since the 8 series uses this as well, I'm curious.
The E31 etk diagram at least has the parts order listed correctly. On the E36 diagram it's completely off.
