cut on my car some more today.
the rears have been rubbing on big bumps or hard turns and that isn't right when i have the FF kit and modest 245s. so i pulled the springs and lifted the wheels up into the arches to see where i was making contact. turns out it was at the corners where the FF overs meet the body in the leading edge of the wheels. did some modest trimming on both sides, so we'll see if i've remedied my issue.
also test fitted my Mateo Motorsports rear diffuser last night. probably gonna wait for spring to install the aero as i drive my M thru the snow. (like a fkkng boss)
pics are a little dark. i'm not a photographist. sorry not sorry. #nofilter #derp

i'm at a crossroads.
i have tons of stuff left to do to "finish" the M3.
i have a ton of stuff sitting at home (and work) waiting to be installed on the M3.
but i found a 911 rolling shell local for cheap.
do i sell the SC kit i've secreted away and buy the porsche? effectively ending forward progress on the M3 and relegating it to maintenance only status.
or do i stop worrying about porsches (been yearning for one for 30+ years) and continue the m3 build?
i hate cars so much this week.

time will tell. hard to pass up a screaming deal that won't depreciate. how often do we find those in this hobby/lifestyle/addiction?
that's very kind. but i'm def closer to 40 than 30 by a fair margin. must be some truth to living poison free having benefits. (sXe & vegetarian 20+ years)
i don't have the huge pile of cash by any means. but i have a certain set of skills....
if Kelly (wife) reads this, she may jump on a plane to Jax and just start slapping people til she's convinced she got you. lol.
*we all know that's what would end up happening anyway....just to a much lesser degree on the M3.
the exponentially increasing value of air-cooled porsches is responsible for this predicament entirely. were they not so absurdly priced right now, i could just afford a decent one, or score a basket case for much less. so i agree that if i scoop up the 911 and sit on it for a few years, it def won't lose any value. i have friends that own a body shop locally (i know..."and your m3 looks like that!?!?!?!"). so i'd just have the 911 dropped off over there from jumpstreet and have it soda blasted and epoxied to stop the rust. in that condition plus a little bit of work, it's worth way more that i'll have paid. or will provide an excellent base for a full fibreglass bodied RSR replica. think 200-300whp and 2000lb wet weight and 255/315 tires...
and i've had several inquiries about the SC kit. it's probably gonna go quickly even without a FS thread.
if the 911 is gone when the money rolls in, so be it.
i'll just buy something else for the M with more potential.

i forgot to post a sweet pic of my new clock.
OBC wasn't giving me any useful info aside from the time and the temp, so it got the boot. (for sale, btw. 18button, all lights work, all functions work)
prep for more instrumentation has begun!
side notes:
1. Gorilla Biscuits is an amazing band. you guys just don't know.
2. those with keen eyes will undoubtedly notice my glove box is the bane of my existence. i have to keep it locked to keep it from bouncing open when i hit bumps. any suggestion on what to replace to get that filthy whore to close properly and stay closed will be met with many many thanks. it works correctly except for the unsightly gap and aforementioned tendency to open when i hit the bumps.
3. picked up an AA strut bar friday. trying to decide if i want to machine out the center of the caps to access the dampening adjusters on my shocks. thoughts?

HAH my glove box does the same.. Gotta keep it locked... In for a fix too
If your able to machine that Hoe then machine it. Also 911 pics or did it sell?
I'm gonna mock up the strut bar today and see what kind of space limitations I have.
the 911 is still for sale, but I'm not the guy to make a call until I have cash in hand.
i'm gonna let fate decide if I get this or not. So I'm not gonna get too excited one way or the other til the SC sells.

i'll give the screw method a go tomorrow.
if that doesn't get the job done, i'll be pulling the whole damned thing to see what i can do about modifying the latch/catch to fit tighter.
i have the older style because 95. so we'll see what i find.
following the link you posted to a link that details the latch repair left me a little dismayed as the pics are long expired.

been hearing a strange creak from the back of the car for 2 days.
i think my RTABs may be trying to remove their bracket from the body.
i hope it's them and not the subframe.
it goes on the lift tomorrow. i already have RTAB pocket reinforcement plates and new spherical BW RTABs. so cleaning up with the grinder and welding in those reinforcements won't be the end of the world.
if i have to drop the subframe, i'm gonna be thoroughly pissed.
updates when i find something.

Fate can be a cruel mistress, man, I would say pull the trigger and buy the roller, at worse you'll have to sell it turning a quick profit. At the same time I do love a good M3 rejuvenation! Keep up the lords work sir
If your M3's Rear subframe is dead are you gonna pull the trigger on the 911 or no cause the M3 is your Daily?
I haz a COMPLETE M3 rear swap if you wanna get a replacement in the garage and prep it for swap???
I got it on the lift today. No tears. No holes. Nothing moves even with the 4' pry bar.
gonna weld in the rtab pocket plates tomorrow or Friday to see if that stops my noise.
i'm not gonna start looking for a new rear subframe just yet. I have a welder. I'll repair it and then reinforce it if it's damaged. It's already loaded up with powerflex and akg bushings.
as for the 911, I'm just gonna wait and see what happens.
i got my Mateo diffuser installed tonight after not finding any damage to the body/subframe.
i'll load up a pic tomorrow after I snap one in some daylight.

well it's dirty again. meh.
i got the Mateo diffuser installed properly this week.
i also lowered the front 2 turns. doesn't sound like a lot, but it added back the little bit of rake it needed to sit right for an e36.
in related news, i'm still not a photografist so all my pics are weirdly lit and grainy.
and it doesn't hardly rub at all...even at full lock.
the function>form police can suck it.

ever think about puttin a wang on it? Looks sick with the new wheels.
i do.
but i'm torn.
i like how they look with no wing and being nice and wide.
but i also like how some wings look.
right now, i'm leaning towards a chassis mounted BFW...but i haven't made up my mind at all.
i'm more focused on the front end of the car. i have some Mateo Motorsports canards that need fitted and i'm shopping lips/splitters to decrease the amount of air getting under the car and add a bit more front bite.

You gonna put some roundels on lol?
Motion Motorsport splitter are nice 😉
i have some brand new in a drawer at work. i may put the front one on soon as it'll pull out (who does that?) easy enough when i replace the hood.
the trunk will have to wait til i replace it or paint it....probably.
i want something a shade lower to the ground. i'm literally thinking of buying a lip and combining that with your canards and the MM underpanel i have to get the job done. haven't decided because i'm pretty low and whatever i do has to be durable.

I hope that one day the E36 chassis will be like an aircooled na 911 and the E36 M3 will just be like an equivalent of a 930 or any turbo niner but probably not.
I think the E36 M3 will be more comparable to the 964 or 911 SC. Can't really compare direct generations as the 911 has been around for sooo long, but it kinda makes sense to compare against the 964 given they're both from a similar era and were both kind of unappreciated. The 964 was really in the 993's shadow for a while, recently the 964 has gotten more popular though, probably has to do with it having been more affordable than the 993 as well.
