noticed that i hadn't posted any grainy photos in a while. so here's one from this AM. i think it better depicts how the #gripmissile sits on the new rimz. word.

i made it there, thru the flood, and home again without incident. although my car does sit a little lower after 1500 miles fully laden. weird that the suspension settled a hair after being on for a year. oh well.
i did collect some aero while i was there. but it's probably not going on the car til after the snow melts (which hasn't even fallen yet, tbh)
i'm cooking up a plan for winter based on possibly changing my plans for next year. should know more in a week or three.
i need to upload some more grainy pics to flickr (from IG) so i can post them in here.
sorry for lame update.

sorry us old boring guys are reliving are youth through threads like this, so how was the car received by the vw crowd, really like the new wheels btw
Whens this hoopty gettin turbod?
I don't even think I remember seeing this at h2o... I really dig the new wheels though! Any plans to ever fully wrap the car or paint it?
ha! you're not that old. some vw kid told me it looked "tough". i caught a lot of people pointing cameras in my general direction...but haven't found any evidence that an actual pic was taken.
my friends all think it's great.
some day....
it spent a lot of time parked under the Island Cabana on 89/90th st. i brought it out a few times, but generally we took other cars so we didn't have to take tons of cars everywhere. i'm too impatient to fight for 3 parking spots when we can carpool and swoop into 1 spot immediately.
one of these days, i'll break down and buy some rustoleum (or bmw touch up spray bombs) and shoot some panels....maybe.
i have the vinyl to wrap it. i just don't have the skills to install it. realistically, i'd rather have $1000-2500 worth of go-fast bits than a car that's one solid colour.

Nice R32!
I've had a few VWs myself. Mk2 and Mk4 GTI and a Corrado. Mk2 is the best car i've ever owned.
Glad to see someone else taking care of a once-neglected car! Keep up the good work.
thanks! i've had a slew of mk2s. they were cool. mk3 makes the best winter car. corrados are the bane of my existence. my little brother has one. it constantly needs some work done....and he's not terribly adept at working on cars. so it's somehow my responsibility to keep that hunk of junk on the road. i've given up trying to compel him to sell it and buy something that doesn't suck.

You came out of H2Oi clean with no tickets right?
Sho nuff.
i usually fare OK in the tickets department. No burnouts, no speeding, no racing, no extreme camber/alignment/etc.
i tend to get my tickets on the way home. I get ~70% of the way home and start driving markedly faster.
i once crossed all of TN and KY at over 100mph after SOWO because "it's time to be home".

Hahaha... This^^
I never get in trouble at car meets, local street racing get togethers, etc. Always am extra careful there... As soon as the fun ends though and im cruising home on the interstate casually flying by every other car on the road and I decided to check the speedo and sure enough, just clippin along at 100+ for the past 20 miles lol. Havent gotten a ticket in over a year though, and that was for just blatantly running a stop sign in some chicks lexus rx300....
Did OLOA in '05 and basically drove triple digits for 8 days and 5,000 miles. V1 and CB were our friend. And, when the V1 goes off you grab brakes so hard you about eat the windshield: no tix!

I want to do OLOA one day before I can't.
I'd build a car specifically for it tho.

sun came out today, so more grainy photos.
i washed it when i got home....so the car is a little darker and the wheels a bit lighter than in these pics
and some ball-gargler in a minivan thought it'd be super cool to tailgate me today on my way home. pretty sure he crapped his pants when he realized we were entering that off-ramp (cloverleaf style) at ~65mph. you'd think people would be more aware of their surroundings.

Haha love the last bit. Some dude in an accord was tail gating me in my Jeep about a year ago at night and we were heading to a fork(one paved and one unpaved) I hit the unpaved road at about 40 into a massive dip and I saw his head lights go down and a big cloud of dust... Didn't see him after that >.>
Car looks nice by the way!
Thanks! it looks best in photos (from far away)
having driven all over this country, Indy drivers make a strong case for having the worst drivers. it still blows me away (after 9 years) how bad they are. everyone is on their phone, smoking, eating, drinking, applying makeup, reading a f**cking book, or just not paying attention. they don't go on green and don't stop on red. i see school busses WITH KIDS ON BOARD run red lights every week. everyone left lane cruises or side-by-side cruises so you just can't get anywhere. it makes me want to sell the M and buy an H1. then, i'd just blast down the VIP lane and ram anything in my way.

P.S. i hate Indianapolis

could not agree more, i.ve lived here my whole life and it just seems it gets worse every day, theres alot of cool stuff here too, went to germanfest yesterday it was great, porsche club of indy was there with about 40 cars, thinking thats my next step , finding a nice 911 , but for the price the m3 is still loads of fun. i,m a truck driver by profession, so i,ve had to learn alot of patience, think how much fun it would to just roll over people with 80,000 lbs of pissed off mack truck.;]

I had a perfectly fun time running a bone stock M3/4/5 (not the one I drive currently). It was current on maintenance, but that was it. That was a fine strategy just for crossing it off my bucket list. All the interstate travel between events was pretty darn comfy, especially compared to people who did crazy things like campaign a racing NSX, or a Caterham. The front runners ran seriously crazy machinery: steel tube frame race car anyone? So obviously my M3/4/5 was not at all competitive (especially with me and my dad sharing driving ranging anywhere from poor to somewhat competent). But I was glad to do it once, and glad to get it done while still sponsored by Car and Driver because I had been reading the results in their magazine for decades. The number of people who do it year after year baffles me--frankly I didn't find it that amazing. Now I've got to complete some other automotive bucket list items: watch Indy, compete in Targa Newfoundland, spectate the TT at Isle of Mann....
