That plate has been on at least two previous cars.
it'll go on the next as well.

drove the car to work tonight.
haven't really done much to it or with it.

my boss and i detailed the exterior a week or two ago. so it looks nice again.

and i purchased the start of another winter project. (assuming the GD m3 sells and i can start the winter project i really want to start)

You still alive? Is this the month of two or three work shift per every day of the month?

    i am still allive.
and August was the super crazy month.
i go on vacation in 6 days, so i've had plenty to do to prepare for that. plus we're going to Florida. so i've been watching the weather. fortunately, we're headed to Destin. Destin by some miracle, has been basically untouched by severe weather.

i haven't even started the m3 in a week or two. (possibly three)
been tooling around in the 328i sedan and riding the mountain bike every day. today will be my 93rd consecutive day on the mtb. 101 is the bare minimum, 120 is the goal. we'll see how sunlight, mother nature, and life in general will allow for me to complete my mission.

That's pretty nuts that you were able to get all of those rides in during your overly work-ness August!

Are you avoiding the M3 so you can convince yourself you don't like it and are happy to sell it or part it out? I have to say, as sick as it is, I really like the Bimmer slant sixes. Slap a turbo on them and they are magic.

It was an exercise in determination for sure.
the m3 is sitting because it needs gas and I just don't want to put any more money into it. Including gasoline.

i was thinking today that I probably could have left the s52 in there and thrown some cams and long tubes and been happy. Too late now.

Well, anything you can do to an s52 is better done to an LS... So at least there's that!

As it happens, I did both a cam and long tubes to the LS...

I am glad its staying together. If I were farther along in my career, not poor, I may have bought it. Was part of the buyers agreement that he has to continue this thread for us all to continue enjoying reading about the build?

We are sedan brothers! I'm keeping mine for sure too. Love that damn thing.

Probably keep it until I wad it up, or maybe until rust takes too much of it and I have to grab a better chassis for it

I’ll be keeping the sedan until I buy a Tacoma.
much easier to transport mountain bikes with a Tacoma than an e36

i'm still about. just more lurky than posty.

now that the m3 is gone and i've sold the 328is coupe shell, i get to do something i've not done since buying my first house back in 2006.

yes! that is both cars in the garage every night! very exciting stuff as winter draws ever nearer.

i'm currently resisting the urge to start tinkering with the 328 to make it a bit more spirited and a bit less pedestrian.

also, by some absurd happenstance, both of our cars have 4 doors and 10 spoke rimz. although hers is a bit more fancy (and quite a bit more rapid) than the 328.

    long time, no see, chaps!

well, i went and did a thing.

try not to judge too harshly. i've wanted an impact bumper 911 since before many/most of you were born. (30+ years). having sold the M3 to buy one, i worked out a deal for this one and it came home on 12/20/17. just in time for my to be back parking in the driveway for the first day of winter.

it's been sitting for ~6 years, needs paint, needs the interior cleaned desperately, and needs a bit of reassembly (coincides with the paint i reckon). but it's complete and with the values of these things being still quite absurd, all i need to do is make it run to gain several thousand in equity. never had a car that wasn't a depreciating asset. kinda stoked on that. i spent all day yesterday in the garage removing the interior and vacuuming and cleaning and now my garage smells much better. oi. this poor thing was stinky. and it's a good thing we bought a (way too) big house last year. as having a slew of spares for the 328 and a 911 in a state of semi-disassembly means i have a lot of parts scattered all over the two storage rooms and the workshop in the basement plus the garage. i'm going to continue to clean the interior for a bit as it's a legit health concern. one dead mouse, a bit too much mold for my liking, and 6+ years of dirt and dust prompted me to don the respirator yesterday whilst i was cleaning and dismantling.
next on the list is to get this hog running. there are some loose wires in the dash i'd like to track before i slap in a battery, but i'm pretty sure i'm pretty close to reviving this poor soul.
plan to get it running is as follows.
    drain fuel tank, fresh gas
    new fuel filter
    new spark plugs
inspect and replace if necessary cap and rotor
inspect and replace if necessary vacuum lines
    battery
    cross fingers
    turn key

i'll drop in from time to time and keep you guys looped in. but i also started a new job since my last post, so life has been hectic and i don't have a ton of free time right now to do anything.

have a great holiday and see you nerds in the new year!
