2002 330ci staggered wheels tire pressure

    I have a 2002 330ci w/ sports package.

    Front- 225/45R-17
    Rear- 245/40R-17

I have been reading some who say to to run 40psi at all 4. I've also read to have higher PSI at front tires, 40/38 and 42/37.

I am going on a 1000 mile road trip tomorrow and wouldn't mind some accurate information regarding the tire pressure.

    Thanks.

It should tell you what size to run on the door jamb sticker

I always set them at 36 front, 40 rear.

But yes, check the door jamb sticker. I wouldn't go less than 35 in front.

The sticker recommends higher pressures in the rear, assuming that there will be people or luggage back there.

If you run empty 99% of the time, like I do, run all four tires at the front tire pressure, since the vehicle is balanced 50/50. Then just raise the pressures in the back a few psi if you're going to load up.

40 in the front just seems a little high to me. But who knows. Would you even be able to feel 4 psi difference?

So from what I hearing 39 in the front and 40psi in the rear is safe?

Yes 39/40 is totally fine. I prefer 36/40 myself.

What tires are on the car? It does matter! I ran Yokohamas for a while and set the pressures at 36F/40R. With Michelin PS2/PSS I ran 34F/36R. Both were the appropriate pressures for the respective tire.
