That's awesome.
now you've got me thinking about the radiator I'm having delivered today...

Hey guys its been a while since I posted as I rarely get on to post so forgive me for reviving my thread over and over. As we all know there cars are so very dear to us and I love mine more than you know. The progression keeps getting deeper and deeper as I think about my goals for the car. The short of it is I've bought a lot of nice upgrades and hopefully they will make there way onto the car soon.
I'm thinking about building the motor and wanted to know without going for crazy power I'll be modest most likely 600-750whp (doesn't seem modest but I'm not shooting for 1000) would be the area I'm looking what route I should go with my S52. I've probably thought countless times about what I could do, but I'm a king of procrastination as you can ask many of the members of this forum who know me. However ONCE I am confident and make up my mind I buy it and I do it. I haven't really thought of a budget, but at the same time i'm just looking to make it reliable and work day in and day out. Not going for records or trophies but I do like to go fast.
So please help me make my car the best car it can be. I really do value the knowledge base these forums and the members provide.
I guess I'm stuck on what the best compression ratio and how to get there. I have the option of running E85, and I'd rather not use METH at all. So it would be a tune for 93 and also E85. I know have the larger area 3.2L would help with spool as well.
Is the answer a cutring/spacer combo? Should I replace the Rods and run stock pistons with a cutring? Should I not use a spacer and get low-comp piston? If pistons what bore? I know there are multiple ways of getting there. I'm a big believer in proven setups though so those with experience and time logged on their setup your data means the most to me.

For 600-750 rwhp, you should build the shortblock with forged aftermarket pistons and rods. There is no OBD2 switch on the fly tune that I know of to take advantage of E85, so if you want to run either fuel, you need to tune for the lower denominator, 93. With no meth, I would not run over 600 and I would go there only if you have compression in the 8.5 to 9.0 range. Add E85 when you want and raise the boost to get your 750. So you need a turbo that is capable of 750 but also responsive at under 600. I would use a steedspeed twinscroll manifold from CES and an EFR 9180 0.92 IWG turbo with the external gate as well. Get NickG to tune it if he will tune E85.
Back with another update and trying for the record for the longest build time....hardy har har...

I'm the king of procrastination, but that's a good thing as I've built the bottom-end (wink wink pbonsalb) Going RK tune with full E85 tune and full bottom end build with JE pistons with Eagle rods. I'm using the 86mm S52 bored block with a 9:1 overall ratio. Also upgraded the mains to ARP and used larger wrist pins.

Since my GT4094R has been sitting in a box for the past 2 years I decided to bring it into the current decade and upgraded to a billet GTX wheel which should net me another 10-15% more hp overall which should pair nice with the Steedspeed Twinscroll manifold.

Didn't see many deals over the Black Friday holiday so I'm still buying up parts as I'm looking for a good deal on a clutch and leaning towards DKM/Comp Clutch. I also wanted to know about deck height and since I've gone 9:1 with the piston I've read they stick out about .035 would the .079 cutring provide enough space as I'd hate to damage my pretty pistons.
Thanks in advance and hope you enjoyed the update. BTW Early Merry Christmas to you all!

That “stickout” is correct. Assuming you mean 0.035”
You Should go with the big boy trans

The fancy pistons should have more relief for the valves. Go any thicker on the HG and you lose CR. But if you want more piston to valve clearance run aftermarket 10.5 pistons with a 0.140 cutring and spacer combo. You’ll get 9.0. Squish is not technically ideal but that may not matter.

My build time is equally as long. You'll get there.
Where did you get the beefy wrist pins from?
Looks like he opted for the super heavy duty pins from JE. I believe those are rated at 300hp per cylinder while the standard ones are rated at 130hp. They also sell a middle range one that's rated at 150hp per cylinder.
Paging Justin, we need an update!
JE directly.
Correct!
Hey Bro thanks for reminding me I don't get on here as much as I should.
Good news is the motor is finally back in the car, clutch and transmission as well. Next up fuel system and then we will work on all new 3.5 piping!

So I decided to do a little Labor day shopping after riding in 3 Turbo BMW's at MPACT all around 1000hp I decided to upgrade the brakes as I'm gonna need it. Can't wait to try these bad boys out!

Lol that slow down is a bit sketch 😭
This may be a dumb question, but I'm currently running a built short block and stock head on my turbo s50. While I was assembling the motor I installed new stock main bolts and didn't upgrade to ARP's. Should I be concerned about shooting for 700-750 on full e85 on 6466? I don't know the limits of stock main bolts.
(i'm running 9:1 JE piston with ultra heavy duty wrist pins and eagle H-beams)
No, your good. The stock main bolts are not a failure point at that power level.
