    2008 535xi turbo replacement costs??

I'm having both turbos replaced at 78,000 miles. My small independent shop does not believe they were covered by recall. ( no wastegate noise) Great folks in this shop but seem to have had a really hard time diagnosing and ordering right parts and getting this put back together -- several stops and starts and had the car a long time. I want to know what the labor cost to replace should be so when hit with invoice I have a sense of whether I'm overpaying labor based on their inexperience.

Also - anyone know of any warranty coverage or class action suit if not a noisy wastegate cause for failure?

    Many thanks!

they are covered under some sort of coverage for 8yr/82k miles.

take it to the dealer and tip the Service advisor and ask him to replace the turbos.

The independent shop that did mine charged around $900 labour for the job. I don't have the xi, but they said it would take longer if it was. I sourced the parts and install kit myself. I also had them do the oil pan gasket while they were under there with it all out.

Yes, this should be replaced by BMW under their warranty.

The warranty covers them if the waste gate units have failed. Usually causing a loud rattling noise. If there's no noise, and the dealer can't prove that's the issue, they likely won't cover them.

What most people don't realize is that bmw calls for parts that get replaced under warranty. We have to send them back to bmw. They inspect them. If the failure is covered, all is good. If not, they simply debit the claim and don't pay the dealer. The dealer eats the entire repair bill. That's why we have such strict guidelines cause we get eaten alive with bmw claim refusals.
