Been a little bit since I last updated. Car is running great. Biggest issue I had so far was the mystery mileage Volvo fan burning up on me. Replaced that and have been good to go. Car runs at 187-190 with the stock radiator. I haven't gotten on the throttle too much as I'm still breaking in the clutch. Also bought some Konis and have Ground Controls en route. Hopefully making the first 130mile round trip to work late next week.

I assume theres some autocorrect in there. My drain sump has a big vent filter on it. Its actually one of these welded to the sump tank. The aluminum tube has pressed in baffles.

wow, this is awesome, just curios whats your drive shaft setup, particularly the rear flange to the pinion?
SQ BIMMER N MARIO8139 RIPPED ME OFF $200 .
The driveshaft I had leftover from another car. Just cut the end off and welded a new 1310 yoke on the rear. Front is a 1350. The flange adapter is from Jags That Run.
Have the car back out with the new coilovers. Muuuuuuuuuch better now. The high spring rates aren't at all unpleasant on the street. I'm sure the 3400lb weight of the car helps with that. My wastegate return vband no longer scrapes at all on high speed road dips. Handles quite neutral.
13" front, 12.2" rear ride height currently.

Been awhile since an update. Been driving the car a ton. I had an issue where I thought the clutch was done, but it ended up being an axle stub coming off. It must never have need seated correctly. The diff makes one hell of a grinding noise with one axle de-coupled.
Anyway, I have it tuned to just under 18psi on pump gas and spraying windshield washer fluid through 2 5gph nozzles. Flat 11:1 a/f at 11 degrees of timing. That's about as far as I'm going to push it for now.
Im going to add a fluid pump to spray the 1-3gear set as I've picked up a whine after extended high boost highway pulls.

Shes burning lovely!
Quite. I'm hoping it stays together for awhile. I might pull one of my wastegate springs out to drop low boost to 8ish. It's 10-12 currently depending on the weather. 8 would be easier to deal with as Id like to bring it to Lime Rock.
This is the sound of a fluid starved gear set

I guess a 7675 at full song for a dozen 3rd 4rth gears pulls will do that.

Two questions if it's not too much trouble.. Who did you use to make the split loom plug and play harness, price? What brand of gold heat shielding is that? I've been trying to do my own due-diligence on this CX swap kit and the only other's I've found still ended up moving the ABS unit. Have you run the car for any length of time? Any brake fluid/clutch fluid boiling issues yet?
I bought my ECU/Harness from a guy Shannon Taylor. He posts on the Sloppy Mechanics facebook page. He was easy to work with and is a dealer for EFIsource.com, but builds his own harnesses. The heat shield is from Pegasus Auto.
I did not move my ABS unit, nor have I had any problems with heat. I have about 700 miles on the car so far.

Quick update.
I'm glad it's almost winter since last weekend this motor let go at the top of 4rth at just under 18psi. 11 degrees of timing on 93. The only thing that went wrong was the meth didn't come on till 5500rpm. I forgot there was a temp threshold of 60 degrees that I didn't change. I figured why the hell would my temps ever be that low. Well, Sunday was fucking cold! There was a few more threads of color on the plugs, buy nothing crazy. I'm not 100% convinced the meth not turning on was the cause. Number two rod went through the pan, but everything else looked fine so far.
Datalog shows good air fuel, rpm spike is a touch of 4rth gear wheel spin. Knock sensors don't show any loud noise until decel from this run. The a/f spike was a throttle blip before completely dropping out of it.
From the endoscopic camera....
Bottom of number 2
Top of number 2
I've got a 4.8 coming just to get the car back into service. I'll likely build a 5.3 with Wisecos and Chinese h beams over the winter for a little more durability. I really like the way it pulls at 18psi and don't really want to be turning it down.

Any videos of all these runs ? Would love to see this thing in action!

It looks like you found a weak point in the hardware! I've had a couple motors do that. Everythings running fine no abnormalities and outta the blue BANG! Sux but it happens!

New bullet for the chamber arrived today.
L33. 70-80lbs lighter, better rods, better heads, more compression for better spool. Should be fun. Motor seems to be in fantastic shape so far.

L33 is a gnarly truck motor.
i just picked up a LM4 for my project.
how do you like those CX mounts? i'm not gonna boost mine. more of the NA, high rpm route than all-out power. but i do intend to drive it quite hard.
awesome build. kinda upset i didn't find this til now.
always trying to make it lighter and faster

I like the cx mounts. They fit really well and the price is right.
Starting to get work on getting the new motor in. The IC plumbing will be black wrinkle powder coated and I'm probably goings to coat the hot parts black ceramic.
