Best shift knob ever.

That is all.
Cleaned up nicely. Did you blast it, or chemical clean? Paint laid down well too.
Great build going on!
I'm pulling mine out this weekend. Plan to media blast it myself and see how it cleans up. Probably won't be as professionally looking as yours but I'm hopeful. It's a southern car so very little rust but I expect I may run into similar problems freeing the bushings.
All I gotta say is get the yellow cans (MAPP gas) instead of propane. Should cut down time by a lot, since the flame is much wider and will heat things faster. And sawzall the diff bushing out but be careful to not cut the subframe!
I'm putting this project on hold for now. I just need new camber bushings and new hardware before the rear is good, but money is getting tight. I have to do maintenance on my parent's X5/current daily since the E36 has been down for so long.
Here's some eye candy for everybody. I like it as a homage to my green 318ti and matches to cool Lister green of those BTCC cars, let me know what you guys think.
I'd definitely do the RTAB and subframe reinforcements if you already have everything dropped out!
Also great timing for St Patrick's day with the green subframe and bushings!

Yea, it's a very festive color for this time of year
I gotta think of a creative way to get the reinforcements welded in. I don't know how to weld and would like to learn myself, so it'll be a project down the line. Removing everything a second time will be much easier anyway. Right now, I'm really stuck on getting that camber bolt out and painting the arms. Weather hasn't been cooperating and I'm really sick of driving ~2.5hrs to my parents house just to get a few hours of work done.
Dragging this build out as long as I can... not really, just don't have the money to buy everything at once and get this thing on its wheels again.
I don't like taking pictures as it's easier to keep track of 1 video file, but I decided to snap some anyway. Working on the front end for once. Trying to convert my STANCE coils to work with GC Race camber/caster plates I bought. It's not that simple so I'll see what GC has to offer as a fix.
As you can see, the STANCE coils has a threaded OD of 14mm, unthreaded OD of 15mm and a lower stem OD of 26mm. Not typical and not sure how the GC plates will adapt, as the spherical bearing ID is 16mm.
A close up look at the differences between GC and STANCE hardware. The GC plates came off a JRZ RS specc'd car. Boy do I wish I those JRZ's instead!
The rear subframe stays untouched until I get my camber arms and hardware.

Home Depot has nylon, possibly Delrin spacers IIRC.
see if you can get something to hug that 15mm top to fit the 16mm GC sleeve. They're a few cents so worth a shot.
Goodluck. Looks good.
Yep, I'm going back and forth with GC right now to figure out a solution. I won't be too bummed if I end up having to go away from my STANCE coils. I'd totally be willing to upgrade, but the price increase from $1k coils to something else is hard to swallow and will hold up more of my progress.
Long time no update... I did my first Pro Solo. Really happy with the car, I don’t think it can catch the BRZ’s but will put up a fighting chance.
And for science, my car weighs 2882 with a 1/4 tank of gas. I could ditch the stock battery and empty out the toolbox but it’s only gonna net me 35lbs or so. No way I’m under 2800 even though I’m a slick top.

Bam and bam!
Nice vids. Good run
Is this at MetLife stadium? I'm dying to check that place out one day. I hear us NYR guys get eaten up out there haha.

Revshift bushing issue... they like to slide out. I knew about this before the NJ Pro but didn’t want to worry about it since I had no way of fixing it in time. I repressed the bushings in this weekend and put some blue threadlocker on. I hope it stays, and if it doesn’t I’ll need to find a new bushing brand.

So the car has finally trophied. Came 4th at the SCCA Finger Lakes champ tour! Car still needs to be developed more after feedback from my codriver. It’s nice to finally get a fast driver to give me advice on how to set up the car even more

And my day 1 video for good measure. No day 2 stuff since I had a codriver and he put his stuff on.
Hahaha I love that end. Nice save!
