Update: BBA-REMAN can no longer make repairs on these units! Federal law restricts who can repair airbag units, and no-one is currently approved!

The only unit I found used was already pulled from the car it had no airbag deploy, but has Air-Bag Light on. The codes are unknown, Sold as is... Original price $85.00

When I received notification the price was reduced to $69.99 I made a offer.

My offer was $35.00 shipped, Countered @ $65.00, Countered at $35 shipped with these terms.

NOTE:"You and I do not know what codes are listed on this SRS ECU. If this ecu has code "240 internal ECU error" it's dead! And useless! Are you offering a guarantee it does not have the 240 code for $65.00? if not $35 is all I will risk."

$35.00 usd Free Shipping Offer was accepted.

Now we will see... Wish me the best.

I wish you luck, and hope it works. If it's 04/1999 to 07/2001 Z3 with same options (side bags) it will work, plug and play.

Removed from a 2000 BMW Z3 2.3L Convertible with Automatic Transmission, Topaz Blue with Tan Interior. VIN Number: 4USCH9346YLG03115, production date 8/99.

    Next question:

    sit in car
do not put on seat belt
    start car

does the seat belt light turn off after 2-4 seconds or stay on until you plug in your seatbelt?

Great that would be the result I get!

Normally I try not to advertize errors or flaws in my cars when I find them. I just correctly heal the wound and move on. This time I found something that I think needs to be told. I recently read, I believe here on this forum that someone found the SRS bulb wired into another circuit so the car would appear to have a functioning SRS system. I too found this. This is the reason I am questioning every component and switch in my SRS system.

When I first received the car all of the lights seemed to work correctly. But it was fairly obvious that a few of the bulbs had been changed with 194 5w bulbs and not 161 3w bulbs. (194's are much brighter.) When I removed the cluster to change the 194's with 161's. I found that at sometime in my cars past someone had taped over the contacts for the SRS bulb and ran wires to the Brake warning light bulb. Running the two bulbs in parallel. This gave the impression that the SRS system was working correctly... as the light came on with power to ignition, but turned off again as soon as self test was over, as it should. Clearly the system had been tampered with. Whether this was done to pass a safety inspection or by a car lot to make a sale I do not know, and I do not know at what point it was done. I do know it was done prior to its move to Washington State, The fact it was done at all makes me question the entire SRS system at this point.

I want to thank you all for your input, help and patience as I correct and verify my entire SRS system.

    Thank you!
    Kelly

I want to thank everyone that has helped with this AIR BAG issue. I know its been 2 years... (06-04-2015) when I was last addressing this issue.

    The short story:

I was out of town for several months (work related) and then was T-Boned in a company truck. At that point I could not drive the Roadster let alone work on it up under the dash. so my project sat.

The reason I had to set up a new rig was I could not find the XP, RS232, ADS rig I had, anyplace! 328 Power 04 made setting up a rig amazingly easy and cost me less than 19usd, needless to say I found the XP laptop and ADS cable when I went to the cabinet to retrieve the replacement SRS AIRBAG unit (I looked in the computer department and the Tool department but never thought to look for it in the parts department.)

Well its time to go put the car back together. Thank you all!

    Update and conclusions:

Its all back together no SRS light on.

By the time a got to replacing the SRS ECU I had acquired both a V2.5 and a V3.0 airbag ecu. I used the 65778386192 V2.5 unit as it came from a 2000 BMW Z3 2.3L Convertible with Automatic Transmission, Topaz Blue with Tan Interior. VIN Number: 4USCH9346YLG03115, production date 8/99. it was plug and play no coding required. The only error on it was error 17 supply voltage, and it cleared with out issue.

The 65776908896 V3.0 SRS ECU is going back in the parts cabinet with the XP, RS232, ADS laptop as a spare.

I found no malfunctioning components or bad wiring in the system to have caused the 240 internal ECU Error but can report that the ecu still appeared to be clocking the error frequency for system faults. on 05/25/2015 the error frequency for the 240 error was 256 times as seen in the first post. Today the error frequency 712, a assume I started the roady 456 more times in the time span between the 2 readings. The count for the other faults did not go up which leads my to believe The list of codes that were on my ECU were from when I pulled my seats to install the seat tilt mod, as the light was already on at that point I did not take care to not turn on the ignition while I had the seats out.

Again thank you everyone for all your advice and help
