How to Fix Faulty positioning on GPS?

Until about a week ago, the GPS worked just fine. But now, when I try to set the Current Vehicle Position while stationary, it places the vehicle at least one Block from the actual position. While driving. it shows the car up to 5 street blocks away! How to fix?

It is showing 8 satellites, and the Gyro is about 2522.

Is there an easy fix to this?

Does your vehicle still have that Problem? If so, for how long?

My GPS system used to misbehave, I tried a new DVD first (Mk4 system), but didn't fix it, so eventually went for a laser replacement. DVD reads fine now, although GPS itself is suddenly being very temperamental this week.
If you're competent with a small soldering iron, it's quite easy to do....in fact the most difficult bit was getting the unit out of the car in the first place!
