New owner of a used 2011 335i (E90), first BMW, any advice appreciated!

Hi all,

I just recently joined this forum after purchasing a used 2011 335i sedan on 5/2/2015. It has the sport package, auto transmission, black/black. I bought it with 61k miles from the used lot of a Chevy/Cadillac dealer, and they gave a limited 2-year limited "peace of mind" powertrain warranty.

Some questions I have from any owners of this same or similar (E90s):

1. What's the best motor oil? The owner's manual recommends 3-4 different kinds!

2. How often do you all get an oil change, 7.5k?

3. What are some maintenance issues to look out for around 65-70k? My cousin who owns a '98 7-series say that's the time to change the spark plugs, what do you think?

4. Any other advice appreciated. It's a beautiful drive, and I feel like it wants to be taken out for a run, stop and go is not this car's thing. Not complaining though.

1. Best oil would be an oil that is LL-01 Long Life certified (see link below for a list). Most commonly (including myself) you will see BMW engine oil being used (I typically order through FCP Euro, they have it as a kit)

2. The oil change interval depends on the user, but most commonly you will see 6k - 8k miles.

4. As far as advice, have money set aside for any repairs that may come up. Spark plugs typically changed every 25k unless tuned. Lastly, research see whats common to your particular year and read up on guides.
