Paint correction and ceramic coat results are out of this world!

This week I had the rear fenders shaved properly, seems a previous owner did a hack job, but now you'll never know.

Ordered some 275/35-18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports for the rear and picked up some 12mm spacers from Motorsport Hardware to match what I have in the front. While at the shop, we took some Independence Day inspired pics...

Yesterday, dropped the diff for a new gasket and reseal, adjusted the sunroof so the passenger rear corner sits flush now, and replaced the cabin filter.

Today was the first maintenance wash since the paint correction, and the car looks amazing. Planning on cleaning the wheel barrels this weekend, and giving the leather a good cleaning.

In the first picture, I recognized that rear PSS tread and got excited. Nice work man, you know you're "almost done" when the next project is deep cleaning the inner wheel barrels

252k miles is an inspiration for this condition, and when you get the rebuild in the bay this will be as good as a new 540i! Goals for me and my unintentional rat rod Touring for sure. You should drive it for comparo next week.

This car keeps looking better and better! Always excited for an update to the thread.

Gives me hope when I'm out looking for used examples. High mileage gems are out there!

New tires after properly sending off the old ones.

I went up from a 265 to a 275 with 12mm spacers. Love the fitment!

I've been working with Red46 Sump Armor to build an E34 V8 specific skid plate, and we are so close to having a market ready product. Great quality, fitment, and service. Its been a pleasure working with them.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to be in the Motorsport Hardware booth at Big SoCal Euro. Even with all the rain, there was a great turnout, met some real E34 enthusiasts, and saw some great builds.

I would undoubtedly put Calypso in MY booth

In for the Dump Armor, or Sump Armor! I'm not as low as you, but I like to go on backroads that have me pinging the undercarriage off of rocks.

Just crossed over 260,000 miles. Since my last update I've teamed up with Newhan Media, and we filmed the pilot episode for Home Grown Style, a web series highlighting unique cars and the owners/builders. You can check it out here - https://youtu.be/n8wbKKlLWwg

I've also taken care of a few small maintenance items such as a new idler arm and bushing (the previous Lemforder unit was shot after 25,000 miles), secondary water pump, and heater hoses. Blew a heater hose at my first track event at Streets of Willow, so my day was cut short.

Other than that I've been preparing for a M60B44 swap. I have everything in hand other than clutch/flywheel, and a DUDMD chip for the new motor. Taking my time putting it all together, and planning on swapping the week of Feb 12.

Jason, what do you know about the compression/leakdown numbers on your old motor? What is wearing, if you have a list? Or are you just doing this swap for fun and (even more) power?

Just curious, it's rare these days to even see someone rebuilding the bottom end of an M60b40 it seems. But so few actually seem to literally wear out, either..

It's for power. And there is a reasonable amount to gain.

    Compression numbers are still great, (223, 224, 221, 228, 212, 206, 206, 237) just doing this swap for fun/more power.

    Love the pics!

You don't rub the front fenders in hard turning, especially at Buttonwillow?

Enjoyed the vid. Very well done. I'm also excited to see how your build turns out.

IMO E34 M5's and 540i 6spd are special. It's an event to drive these things even today.

This vid was just posted this week. Lame, but still.

Cool. Really like the stance with the spacers in the back. Am considering doing spacers all around. What width/offset are the M Pars up front? I have 17x8 et13 BBS wheels with standard 235 on a milder drop (no camber plates), wondering if I can get away with 12mm.

Thank you! They are 18x8 ET13 up front with 12mm spacers. Perfect fitment IMO.
