CB42366 - 1991 850i 6-speed. Brilliantrot & Black Nappa Leather
CD00144 - 1994 850CSi. Hellrot & Black Nappa Leather
My other projects:
Supercharged Tbirds, V8 Tbirds, V8 Mustang Convertible, Audi V8 Quattro & Audi S8
I know, it's not easy working at that scale. I ordered mine as some models tend to sell out fairly quickly... The only thing that sucks with Otto are the shipping costs, but you do get a discount (on shipping) if you order more than one.
Colorline was available across the E31 model range, yes, but in terms of the 850CSi, the Colorline option was only offered on the LHD euro model (EG91).
I know that some of the 850CSi RHD (EG92) cars had BMW Individual upholstery and one of these, CC88170, was finished in Hellrot with Individual Mugello Red and Black Nappa leather interior. Built in September 1995, this was a special presentation car for the London Motor Show.
There may also have been an EG91 CSi built in similar color scheme, in which case this Otto model can be considered an authentic depiction.
Current:
1994 E31 850CSi Sterlingsilber/Anthracite Buffalo
Previous:
1987 E28 M5 Delphin
1986 E23 M745iA Arctic Blue
1986 E24 635CSi Polaris
1976 E3 3.0 Si Arctic Blue
Got mine today, #37 of 3000.
Now I have something to wash and wax once I sell my 1:1 scale CSi. Booya!
Beautiful, I almost want to tint my rear tails too.
Mine arrived... #581/3000. Amazing that they are all sold out. They sold out all on pre-order.

Missed out on this one....Anybody know if they're making more?
Dr. T: I don't think OttOmobile ever did a rerun - they want to keep their models exclusive. Nevertheless they often release different variants of the popular models. For example, they made no less than 8 variants of the E30 (M, Alpina, coupe, sedan,...). Maybe they'll do an Alpina B12 5.7 Coupé and a regular 8 Series one day, but I would not get my hopes up too much...
Anyway, the OttOmobile 850CSi scale model was not only bought by collectors. Resellers also secured a fair supply and the model is currently well available on eBay and in some dedicated scale model shops. Prices are a bit higher than what we paid for it during the pre-order campaign, but if you really want one...
Here are my first impressions (originally posted at 8er.org):
Some of the detail is really amazing. For example; you can actually read AIRBAG SRS and recognize the embossed BMW logo on the M-Technic steering wheel. I also like the lenses of the tail and headlights - very detailed and nice depth. The center console on the other hand is sculpted a bit rough. The roller wheels of the center vent and climate control unit are barely recognizable. Then again, these details are very, very small. Given the size and the price of the model I guess this is the best we should expect. Despite that it is far better than anything else available. The Revell 850CSi and Maisto 850i models look like junk in comparison. I'm really happy with the OttOmobile 850CSi!
A few factual errors:
- 5-speed gearbox instead of a 6-speed gearbox (take a close look at the shift lever in my interior picture)
- Brake discs way too large and calipers do not resemble the real deal
- Side windows are flat instead of curved
- No third brake light (not all early E31 had a third brake light but I believe all later models did)
- Driver and passenger side mirror have the same dimensions and angle
- Bottom side is clearly not meant to be looked at
- Rear-view mirror is attached to the roof instead of the window
- No staggered wheels and tires a bit stretched
According to Reinhard (8coupe.com) the model does not depict an actual E31. OttOmobile just picked a nice color combination and wheels. Nevertheless, the chrome inner door handles and belt guides, the rear-view mirror and the fact that there's no passenger-side door lock, puts the model somewhere between January 1995 and April 1996.
One on Ebay now. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Modelcar-...item54213652da
1:1 scale version for sale on eBay also: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-8-Series...m=221847018596
Sport seat's sitting height is lower than the standard, thats the most significant difference i miss on my previous 8,although the one i have now is overall better, i hat the leather type and standard seating height.

www.8coupe.com / Turkey Inventory
....in which the real 1:1 car is now for sale too! I just want to buy it to un-F$&# it. No offense to whomever the last owner was, but why the red/black roundels, V12 and ///M badges on a car of this rarity!!!
Also, I like throwing stars (which it also comes with), but I'd probably put M-Pars on it and start searching for the matching Otto version of this car too! Pretty amazing that one of the 7 EG91 colorline Calypsorpot Euro CSi's (in Hellrot no less) is available for sale just 500 miles from my doorstep.

There was a German Spec 850CSi that I worked in several years ago. It was Hellrot with the red/black color line interior. The car was last seen in Florida, and had extremely high mileage.

Steffen - here is a picture from the SE 8 Gathering you were referring to. I believe the red car you are talking about is the one on the left in front. I believe that the owner did eventually move to California.
