I posted this in another thread, but thought it warranted its own thread. Last month I sent this out the BMWCCA E31 Chapter members and wanted to share it with everyone who may have not received it.
Otto-models in France is coming out with a limited edition 850 CSi in June, and are taking pre-orders now. From what I have been told from European members at 8er.org, the detail is amazing.
Here is the link. Look at the June releases. They also have a bunch of other really neat models, and all are in 1/18th scale.

I've ordered from Otto Models before having recently acquired the E30 325i coupe. Just keep in mind that they only make resin models (not die-cast). While the body is sealed (there are no opening features), the paint, shut lines and details are spot on and prices are a bargain when compared to die-cast models.
On a similar note, one guy actually modified an Otto Model E38 750iL cutting open the hood and "dropping" in an engine from a Revell BMW 850CSi.

Wow! The interior is the most impressive to me.
Interesting that they went with the M-Pars vs. the throwing stars. Very nice.

That interior is amazing.......
Would love to swap the interior on my diecast :p

Shame they opted to go with arguably BMW's worst steering wheel.
And sportseats would've been cool.

Met a fellow owner who commented, "Wow, you have sport seats", which kinda surprised me 'cause I had for twenty years just assumed they were 'seats' (as the Chinese consider "Chinese food" just . . . umm . . . "food").
So my question . . . what makes a 'sport seat' sport vs. regular?
Thanks

Resin?
Sport seats have larger side bolsters, larger side thigh bolsters, and a movable support for the underside of the thigh. If you have ever seen the seats on an E30 325is, they are similar.
This is a picture of a regular seat (from Nojser's website):

Thanks Rog, I had no idea. I suppose it's a good thing that my seats have larger side and thigh bolsters, as my own sides and thighs seem to be getting larger over the years.

And you sit in sport seats, not on.... widebodies wont fit and will be very uncomfortable. IIRC, Rog, you fit sorta ok in my sport seats at 8-Fest!

Some one please correct me, but it was my understanding that SA481A was not available for order in the US.
Have these been retrimmed? or is drape/stuffing different on seats with piping? The only other set I have seen in person is yours, Roger, and they look exactly like mine (minus the Alpina stripes) I cant seem to find any pics of Sport seats with that much "poofy-ness"
Those have been re-trimmed by Nojser - here's another one of his creations: -
Yes that's right. In the USA the 8 Series were offered with a more or less fixed set of equipment. Very little could be configured by the buyer and hence many options were not available at all. In Europe on the other hand, the E31 was offered in a more bare configuration and it was up to the buyer's wallet what additional equipment would end up in the car. That's why E31 are much more diverse outside the USA. You will find fully loaded E31 but just as well extremely basic E31. In later years some equipment that was previously optional became standard and in some countries no-cost option packs were offered.
Tom - you are right!! But I was glad I was not in the back like Marcia. But...I fit better now...been on a diet

Yes - those have been redone by Nojser. Mine are smooth like your picture. Much more supportive than the regular seats.

Is there a single 850CSi out there with an interior colour combination that is as nice as that model?
lambertius: I do not have numbers on the 850CSi alone, but that interior is Calypsorot Colorline (N1CL) and in total 104 E31 were delivered like that.
Only the Euro spec 850CSi's were offered with the 'Color Line paint + upholstery' option.
This model does not depict one of these, as the 'Calypsorot Colorline' was only offered in combination with Calypsorot metallic paintwork - which this model clearly doesn't have.
Current:
1994 E31 850CSi Sterlingsilber/Anthracite Buffalo
Previous:
1987 E28 M5 Delphin
1986 E23 M745iA Arctic Blue
1986 E24 635CSi Polaris
1976 E3 3.0 Si Arctic Blue
Colorline was available for all models (although not in all market versions). The default Calypsorot Colorline configuration was indeed in combination with Calypsorot metallic paintwork, but the exterior color could be chosen differently - although only 7 buyers actually did so with regards to Calypsorot Colorline. I don't know whether any of these 7 was an 850CSi with bright red non-metallic paintwork, but I do agree that the scale model is unlikely to represent an actual 850CSi. The red used in the interior is also too bright to be Calypsorot. Ottomobile probably picked a color combination that looked cool... I don't mind - it's the best looking E31 model so far and I want it .
