Side Mirrors not working

After I washed the car the electric side mirrors stopped working. Both sides stopped. How can I test the switch in the door (which I don't think is the problem since it had been working fine before the wash).
Could there have been something behind the mirrors that got wet and shorted out or something? Is there a guide to take the mirrors apart to check/test or replace?
1995 325is BTW.

I would say before you go ripping the door apart to check the mirrors, check your fuses. always start with the easy stuff (fuses, relays, battery) then go forward from that. you could have just simply blown a fuse for the mirrors

Just say this old thread I started and wanted to update that a few months ago I was driving and was fiddling with the mirror switch and noticed that both mirrors were now working. I don't know exactly when they started working but just to let anyone who may want to know...... at some point the mirrors/motors will dry out and begin working again.
