The question I should be asking is will a larger intake translate to more noise from the turbo hahaha

Ordered the oil feed and return stuff, found a gates part number for coolant hose that my local parts stores can order... still don't understand why they don't stock it. Got the secured oil nut from Rally Road while I was ordering stuff.

Are any of you guys running baffles in the oil pan? I've been intending to get one for a while since I'd like to continue Autocrossing this car later and it seems like it would be a good idea to do everything at once while my oil pan is off.

I built my Catch Can bracket, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. A little cleaning up and some paint and it should look right at home. I'll have to an elbow for the one sticking straight out so that it looks better but that's not a big deal. Should be fairly easy to service during an oil change.

Question: So the HX35 technically shouldn't need a restrictor in the oil line at our factory oil pressure. My question is, with a 5/8" oil drain should I be ok draining straight to the pan?

5/8" is 10an which is what seems to be standard around here for drains.

It should be a slight bit larger, most 10 seems to be 1/2" ID. Seems like the turbo is only a few inches above the pan but hopefully that's enough for the drain

Worked on my Catch Can setup a bit more. I have it all figured out, that is if it works how I hope it does.

I've got a Subaru PCV valve in the can and a brake booster check valve on the 3rd port. When in vacuum the PCV will allow the manifold to pull fumes out through the catch can and leave the oil in the can (in theory) then when it goes into boost the pcv valve will shut off and the check valve will open once crank case pressure starts to rise. I am going to run the check valve down somewhere else, I just put it there to show the theory. It will have a 90* elbow out of the can as well.

Well started to get things together, in theory I should have everything I need to get this build done.

    Intercooler is mounted.

Since your on the ccv subject sort of... (in process of setting mine up) could I run vacuum off the turbo intake with no check valve? I don't think it would pull to much oil into the intake but I could be wrong. Thoughts?

You will pull oil into the turbo. More than you think.

Yeah, seems to be the consensus, guess I'll just use a catch can no point to over think it.

Pretty much, just no good reason to not use one. Technically in boost my catch can will be venting to atmosphere.

Well now that my car is officially down till the turbo is running I'm making some real progress. Scared shitless but it's getting done one way or another.

Just to get it running. Doing the bare minimum to get the setup running this year. I'll switch little things like manifold and stuff later.

Removed all of the exhaust that was in my way, removed the entire wiring harness and installed the motor mount arm to see how much room I had for things. Loving how much room there is with all the emissions removed. My 3.5" intake is going to have ample room!

Do under the subframe hot pipe, and put a short 4"-3" pipe with a slim cone air filter directly behind the AC compressor.

I don't think that's going to be an option either.....

Started the downpipe. Got the Wastegate placement where I want it.

Wastegate seems a little close to the turbo. Don't you typically want it like 1-2 feet after the turbo?

Honestly with it's location near the bottom of the elbow coming off the turbo it will be in a lower pressure zone in the exhaust and "potentially" could cause a scavenging effect however I'm not exactly educated in these manors officially. I don't want a long pipe coming off of the manifold to the gate because that's just more volume the exhaust has to fill before the turbo starts to spool.

People have done some testing on it and it creates quite a flow disruption and loss of power. If that the way it fits best and your fine with it then carry on.
