Thank You, Dennis. Looking forward to getting the car properly done by a professional. Will try and get a bunch of new pics inside and out. The interior with all the black M5 Leather turned out great and couldn't be happier with it. The detailer is one of the best around me and is excited about doing my car. He was planning on spending 8 to 10 hours on it. So I'm excited to see his results also.
so good looking...
Can't believe I haven't updated the thread in almost two years. Touring has been running great and I still enjoy the car very much. The only hiccup was the fuel pump quit on me last Summer.
I just paid the man cause I didn't feel like messing with it.
Trip to Ashville for The Vintage and the BMW Museum.
Paint correction done the past year.
Dead fuel pump, otherwise all good.
Looking good as always!

Such a nice wagon. Have you had any issues with clear coat/red paint and sun? That was always a battle on my Brilliant Red Audi Sline Avant. The reds seem to have a tougher time with UV fading.
“She’s the last of the V8’s, she sucks nitro...phase 4 heads, twin overhead cams...600 horsepower through the wheels, she’s meanness put to music...”
Thanks. The driver door handle is failing. I plan to pull it sometime this summer and have it reshot. One of my Son's work at restoration shop so they can just do it when shooting another car.
The car was reshot in 2011 do to the clearcoat at a shop my nephew worked at. Kind of lucked out he seen it before the repaint. It spent most it's life in Miami then two years in Michigan when I bought it.
Some of the work my kid does. So I know a Guy.
Hi JP5!
The last 12+ months have knocked everyone around !
Some lovely lovely upgrades and I'm sure you're finding they really enhance your enjoyment of the car ! Spring/Summer 2019, I got my car back from paint, bodywork tidyup and a colour change, from Alpine white to Brilliant white! Was so tempted for one of my shortlist of 'special' colours to do the exterior to, but in the end, for a few reasons, I stayed 'white' ! Soon after paint, I sent the car off for a full mechanical overhaul and by late 2019 I got it back and the job had escalated with some mechanical aspects that were needed and some more mods! one of those being having the E38 Sport Contours fitted - which is what you have too I didn't bother with the retrofit of the memory function, just had them powered up - I'm the only one who drives my car!
I see the auto gearknob is still wooden and you have a high gloss black (or wrapped dark colour) trim set, shouldn't be too hard to find a matching piece or have it vinyl wrapped as well? I haven't bothered connecting up the existing antenna nor will I fit another one, I just steam any radio stations from my phone to my head unit via bluetooth and an app called 'TuneIn', keeps the cars lines clean and uncluttered as it were !
What's on the horizon for more changes/upgrades etc ?!
Cheers, Dennis!
Thanks Dennis, Good eye I have swapped out the interior trim for a complete set of Polished Grey trim. Looks really great will have to get a pic of it.
I still plan on doing the M5 swap, now more than ever. I got side tracked buying my 73 BMW 2002 and had some serious health issues spending the past year battling Cancer,I had a Bone Marrow Transplant among other things. I'm very glad to say I'm doing pretty darn good and have better appreciation for everything and the M5 swap is pretty high on the list.
I hope to find a donor car or motor/trans/diff this Summer and do the swap over the winter. Will most likely have Trevor do the work, he has done 13 or 15 M5 e38 swaps so no worries there.
As usual your Touring looks great. White is on of my favorite colors for Tourings. Great to hear from you.

Spent about three hours doing the rear hatch struts and the rear glass struts. Works like brand new. I spent some time cleaning all the hatch trim. Gave the strut mounting compartment a good vacuum also. Swapped out a trim piece off the winter beater touring because no broken tabs and $105. for new. The joy of touring hatch trim prices, just insane.
Of course found a split wire and a broken wire on the passenger side hatch mount. I think I'll have the shop I use fix that. Looks like a total pain and there good at wiring.
The old
The new
Broken wire, there's a cracked one in there also.
New windshield cowl and all the little bits came in today . Also replaced the gaskets on top of headlights
Windshield cowl
The old headlight gaskets are probably original.
New ones were only $13. each.
I could use a new pair of front Continental Tires and maybe an alignment and we should be good to go for Summer.
Hang on so a seventeen year old didn’t appreciate that the rear seats fold flat!? Car looks great BTW! How do you like the BAVSound?

Yes, brass screw. FCP Euro and ECS Tuning both carry them. ECS has a black aluminum one that would look good with the GAS coolant cap. No idea on quality though, looks legit.
