The wrapped window trim looks so much better with a car of this color. What did you use to wrap it?

I ended up having a vinyl shop due it. I spent some time doing it. I could get it to 9 out of 10 but not perfect.
I forgot the vinyl brand name. Wasn't 3m I know. Seven year warranty on the Vinyl with three years labor.
Turned out perfect looks factory for sure. They can mount my rear roof spoiler. Next week I hope. Will ask the brand name.
Ties it all together I think.

Man, your ride looks great! Have you thought about maybe putting a red stripe on the wheels to break up the "whiteness"?

I think the car would look killer with the side trim back to black now. But I know that's just a personal preference.

I'm pretty happy with the all red for now. I didn't think I would like it on your e38 but it turned out really nice I think. I like it on the M5's. Maybe when I do the rear bumper. Maybe. I due have some black vinyl. Hmmm.

The car really looks great. I love the white wheels. It was nice talking to you and the family again last weekend at Timmy Fest.

Installed a e46 SMG steering wheel today. Went pretty well and not that hard.I used all OEM wire and connectors turn out well I think.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Installed these a couple weeks back. Geomet front rotors from ECSTuning with Centric ceramic pads.
    Like both so far.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Next up I have everything to build EVOX-R HID headlights and all the good stuff from The Retrofit Source.

I know there is information out there about this modification, but would you mind posting your details please. Can you tell us what parts you needed to buy including the wiring and how you installed the modification. I'd like to do this to my M-Sport.

    Hi,

    Aquila - I'm sure Jp5Touring won't mind me updating you !

It's a relatively easy upgrade to make, you'll need the steering wheel itself, an SMG slip ring and the harness/loom which plugs into the back of the slip ring and is 'fed' through the trim so that the othr end is near your gearshift selector. There, you can connect it to a part of the mechanism/bits and then put everything back and you'll have the paddles work. I had mine done around early 2009'ish and I was sort of looking on as the guy did it. Took about 90 minutes or so with a few little breaks etc. I'm sure there's a few other threads around with pictures and where to connect everything and removing/refitting trim, but it's not very difficult overall.

I'll be moving my genuine E46 M3 CSL steering wheel with the loom/slip ring on soon... I also have another leather one sitting here too... drop me a PM!

    Cheers, Dennis!

I was thinking about doing the paddle shifter mod sometime down the road if I decide to not swap to a 6-speed (considering keeping it auto since it's the daily driver/family cruiser). However, if I did it i'd go one step further and do the double pull wiring like this guy did:
    http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=912891

Pretty ingenious idea and use of some latching relays so that you can switch it into "manual" mode by pulling back on both paddles at the same time. Don't even need to reach down an flip the lever over to S/M...pretty awesome. But honestly...not as awesome as a legit 6-speed... :-/

Aquila, Dennis is right pretty straight forward. I thought this was the better DIY.

This is the wiring that I followed.
A few other threads on it.

Looking good! I keep debating between going to the US facelift tails or the Euro facelift tails on my 2000 540i touring... same color as yours. I have the US spec facelift headlights with the orange corners so maybe I should just keep it US spec.

Do you have to remove/delete the chops to install that front lip?

No on delete. I removed my bumper to check out the crack it has on right side bottom edge. Worse than I thought so bumper goes to body shop on Monday.
I wanted the fit to be spot on is another reason why I had bumper off. You could install without removing bumper. Twelve holes to drill and twelve of those plastic push pins hold it in. Best looking lip I think, very subtle. Not that theirs a lot of subtle on my touring.
