If anyone is one a budget, the federal 595 RSR (no the ss595) is a phenomenal tire for the price. I won't kid you like some others and say they are on par with a R888 but it is in the same league for 1/3 of the price. It is what I run for the last 3 years.

I use Starspecs year round. They are a great tire. They do very well in the rain which is important to me as we get a lot of rain here. I have tracked them a lot and they perform alright but they can get a bit greasy half way through a session. They are not the best at anything but do everything pretty good.

    Starspecs = girl next door
    NT-01's = totally hot slut

Only commit is they are loud as hell! Of course, I had to purchase them when I was 17 for the pattern.

I have 275 square nt05, easily my favorite tire, excellent in the rain, very predictable traction, and decent mileage. I have never put any heat into them either.

Anthony my suggestion for you would be 255 NT-05R out back and normal nt-05 in front in a 235.

If I were you I'd probably get the biggest R888's I could fit.

255 is really his limit, stock unrolled fenders and 8.5 LTWs.

The 595 RSR is a street tire. It's not anywhere close to an NT01 or R888 when they're all fresh.

The 595 RSR is a step below a Star Spec/RS3 etc. from what I've seen.

It is a 140 TW R compound, which is pretty aggressive. I put them AT LEAST right on par with a RS3/StarSpec, and so do most people who have tried them in my travels. They don't allow the RSR in enthusiast class of GTA because it is too sticky...the rs3 and star spec are allowed.

Like I said, not on par, but in the same league. Many time attack teams I work with use them for shake downs/experimenting before game time with hoosier r6. That says a lot to me.

Have you had a chance to run them? With a little heat, they are an incredible tire for the money.

I have them on my street car. So far they've been pretty good. Nothing crazy but then again I need to try them in some warm temps (which are hopefully coming soon).

Just for reference this is a 255/40ZR17 on an oem 8.5" rim, not too much bubble. The tire on the car is a 225/45 and side by side they look equally meaty.

Some brands 255s are more like 265s though.

    Tire Options for Force Induction

Agreed! These Maxxis are particularly fat examples, just over 10"

Oh and btw the smaller tire pictured is on the oem front 7.5" just like your LTW's

I haven't really had it out much in the wet but they did well the small amount of times I did.

I have federal 595 RSR's, I was previously running nt-05s... The nt-05s seemed a lot more stickier when they were fresh then halfway through their life they just became...not so sticky. The RSR's I've only had for 1 1/2 months in October weather so I'll see how they do when it warms up.

I'm hooked on my 255/18 Toyo R1R.....with a 2.93 rear, I had plenty of traction for 2nd gear over 500rwhp/rwtq......we'll see with the 3.15 diff.

Why change from 2:93 to 3:15? I am thinking about going the other way.
