I'm about to try some 255/40/17 federal 595 rsr
I think the 888's will be my next. After watching john run a mid 10 on street tires, that's crazy. I'd love to not have to put on drag radials at the track.

I am curious to see how my new ones do at the track. I don't expect them to be a drag radial or anything. If you guys have success with the r888 then I might buck up for those next year when I am making more power and have the rear built up.

I'm surprised you guys like R888's so much, they are not well liked among the DE crowd because of their low tolerance to heat cycles for the grip they provide. NT01s offer good grip all the way to the cords when used on track, so you might actually get reasonable life out of them on the street before they harden up. R888's are kinda junk after about 10-15 heat cycles from most people I talk to.
Regardless, any tire in this performance category is likely going to turn to junk before you wear the tread down with lots of street usage. But that happens with most hot street tires as well, people just often don't catch it I guess due to the long time it's in use.

I don't have any experience with the sticky street tires like the toyo's an nitto's, but the mickey thompson drag radials handle great on the street. They are not a handling tire but they have no bad habits at speed and they actually wear pretty well. I am switching to hoosiers drag radials as they are supposed to wrap up better on the strip.
The r is the race compound, no?

I've been using the nitto nt555rs and they have been great, as long as they are warm they will hook from 2nd gear up lol. Made me realize I shoulda got DRs sooner!

I also really like the NT-01's. They are my summer tires.

so Im back in here again, looking for something that will hook better than the R888s. This year by putting more tq down, Im having a hard time hooking even with the Racelogic traction control at 10-15% slip.
Even at 60 mph, the traction control is kicking in limiting my power. Might try out some Mickey Thompsons that will fit on the factory 8.5 wheel...anyone use these?

Bigger turbo to make more hp to the right
Try changing your setup a bit with the R888's. Ideas...lower rear tire pressure to 22-24psi...pick a slightly taller sidewall/lower rim size. Loosen the rear suspension to full soft and loosen front to about 1/3. If you have high rebound get rid of it...if you have really hard springs you might want to try softer. And full corner balance/alignment for a mild street/roadcourse setup from a reputable setup. Also if you get near the wear bars of the R888's order a fresh set of heat cycled ones since they loose a tonne of traction near the wear bar. Also this is considering you have good bushings/rtabs.

An ET street R will dominate anything in straight line traction. An ET street SS will be more stable and street friendly. It's basically a regular street radial with a drag radial tread compound.
