    2015 Malaysian GP @ Sepang

One of my favourite tracks but also considered as one of the hottest, humid but also at the same time heavy thunderstorms coming out of nowhere. No news yet on Alonso coming back to his race seat but will most likely do. RBR and Renault need to get their struggles sorted out and stop finger pointing at each other. Hoping to see more performance from the Ferrari's. I want to see the good ol' Kimi back in front running hard and fast along with Vettel. I still have this feeling that Vettel will be Ferrari's number one driver. I'm also hoping to see teams and drivers other than the Mercedes to separate them and steal their victory lane. C'mon! Also, would like to see more from this year rookie drivers such as Felipe Nasr and others.

So what's the answer here? How do you make the races exciting if Mercedes is leagues ahead of the competition?

Dust off the old V10's and wedge them into the 2013 cars.

    Presto. F1 fixed.

I should have specified: what will the F1 heads actually try in their attempt to keep fans interested?

No doubt we'd love to hear the V10/V12s back in there, but I doubt they'll be willing to scrap their new hybrid/turbo setups any time soon.

#1: Distribute the prize money more equitably.
#2: Impose a yearly cost cap.
#3: Loosen technical and testing regulations.

    F1 fixed.

The FIA and Bernie will do none of those things.

I say it's not the Fia and Bernie only. I also count in the teams itself who can't even agree with each other. Everybody has got to complain about every f******* thing.

I agree with 1 completely but unless everyone up top wants to lose money, which is unlikely, then it won't ever happen.
2 will never happen for same reasons above. The costs are so insane and they will do anything to win. If only it were as simple as the NFL salary cap.
3 is a meh. Unless there is a cost structure in place this will be moot. The little guys are barely making by as is, adding more testing will be tough. I'd personally like to see something like the bottom 4 teams in terms of points get an extra day of testing after a race when there are 2 weeks til the next race. This way the guys at the back of the grid will have a better chance to make it interesting.

To be honest Merc kinda drew a bad hand. They did their homework and are dominant but everyone hates them for it. Also RB needs to stop acting like children. Out of any team to complain they should be dead last with their previous dominance. And yes this is a little late I was out of the country and didn't get to watch Australia until a day or two ago.

Really I think all the audience wants is to see a competitive race where you have no clue who might win until the final handful of laps and lots of mixing it up throughout the race.

When RBR were winning, everyone were complaining. Now Mercedes are winning and dominating just like RBR and the old Ross+Byrne+Totd Ferrari days, now everybody including RBR are complaining. So ..... even the teams can't get themselves straight.

I want to say that 2010 season was a really, really great season because we had nearly 6 contenders of possibly becoming the World Champions. I think there were probably 4 constructors that also had the chance of winning.

Vettels most dominant season, 2013 the most boring before last year.

The first 6 race wins went like this:

    Round 1 Kimi - Lotus
    Round 2 - Vettel - RBR
    Round 3 - Alonso - Ferrari
    Round 4 - Vettel - RBR
    Round 5 - Alonso - Ferrari
    Round 6 - Rosberg - Mercedes
    Round 7 - Vettel - RBR
    Round 8 - Rosberg - Mercedes
    Round 9 - Vettel - RBR
    Round 10 Hamilton

10 Races 5 different winners from 4 different teams, of course the next 9 Races Vettel won but for the first half of the season there were varied winners and teams with an indication that RBR had a better car but not dominant.... at least until the last half of the season came.

That is the season everyone screams sucked.

I also agree with auaq 2010 was a thrilling season. There really was not 4 years of total RBR dominance. 2011 and 2013 saw a lot of Vettel wins, 2010 and 2012 were more varied.

2014 and up is more of a new era from now onwards. Hard to say or predict in the next few years what's going to happen before we can start seeing some true competition. For the time being it's more like trying to settle down with these new rules (and still sorting them out apparently) before we can start seeing 5+ drivers trying to win the championship at the last race. We don't need domination, we need battles, we need unpredictability as well as predictability, not just two drivers only, not just one or two teams fighting only, but the whole grid.

Fully agreed. 2010 was an amazing season on so many levels. The only thing I would have liked to see was Webber standing tall at the end of the year. So, so very close. The DNF in Korea was heartbreaking.

Yeah, not only Weber but Alonso also had a great chance at the Abu Dhabi GP only if it weren't for Vitaly Petrov who was infront of him and the fact that this track isn't all that great for overtaking tactics. I don't like it.

Yep - Jim and auaq hit them on the head. 2010 and the first half of 2013 were the best racing in recent years.

Sounds like it was more due to Mercedes not being able to get many/any clean laps and they still seem to have a near 1 second advantage in race trim.

I know, but there's still reason to celebrate that someone can get into the mix.

I thought that went final this afternoon.

Holy cow the rain! It reminds of living in Florida when the sun would disappear for 30 minutes and the clouds would dump everything they had.

Of course, there's the steam bath that occurs when the sun came back out. Ick.

Vettel on the front row is a welcome surprise, even if it was slightly helped by the conditions.

McLaren is just a massive disappointment.

But now McLaren is only 2.7 seconds back! Progress!
