Touring is a station wagon & therefore has much more interior storage room. It has auto leveling rear air suspension. It does not handle as well as a sedan due to higher weight and higher center of gravity due to extended roofline and heavy glass.

Top speed on sedans with sport option is speed-limited to 155 MPH.
All non-sport sedans and touring chassis are speed-limited to 128 MPH.

    Not much more to say.

Unless of course you have a touring - sport

which gives the 3:15 Gears of the sedan sport... steptronic... lowered suspensions, 235/45/17.... and not limited to 128

the touring sport is the EXACT same setup as the sedan sport automatic, with a leveling suspension... and a few extra feet of cargo room, fold down seats, slide loading platform (option?).

I will give you the few extra pounds in the air as a difference... but the 540iT sport is spot on 50/50 weight distribution... add a stiffer sway bar and that few extra pounds is EASY to toss about.... Handles just fine...especially at high speeds.

Is there an E39 automatic sport sedan? Is there an option to take the speed limiter off of non-sport and touring E39? And, how much? Thanks in advance!!!

In the US, the 540 was only offered in an automatic

the sport version got the steptronic transmission, and few other things listed in my previous post

As with anything, programming can be done to remove the speed limiter for the non sport... contact DINAN, Powerchip, GIAC, etc... Look to spend 4-600 for the tuning.
