Wierd problem this. I've had the car in garage over the winter, due to unforseen events I had to pull the car out for duty a month early. As before I'm greeted to the engine failsafe message on start up, but the car runs just fine, like before infact, and I'm due to a visit to my local BMW-dealership on thursday (150316) to read the codes and what have you. Now to the most recent development, had the car down town today, driven it for an hour, gave it a quick rinse to get rid of the accumulated dust from deing stored, dropped a buddy off and headed home, pulled out of a junction, gave it a little stick, took off in it's usual pace, lifted and braked for a roundabout, and then when I applied throttle NOTHING happened. Immidiately thought, F''k there goes the gearbox since I had a horrible shudder the first time I drove it after the winter, that went away tho in a minute and came back to normal. Put it in neutral and applied throttle, no response what so ever, engaged drive and it pulls forward like before, and backwards aswell. Restarted, same outcome.
Any ideas? I have all the engine electronics as spares, DME's, gearbox computer, throttlebodies (EML?) throttle pedal potentiometer etc.
Are these just interchangeable or is there coding involved.
Car is currently on a battery nap, removed the minus cable from the battery.
Car in question is a swb 750. Production date 19950419
I need V12 specific input on this. Any help greatly appreciated
/Danny

I'm afraid I can't be a lot of help to you, but I do know that the dual throttle bodies are very finicky and messing with the adaptations can cause them to stop responding.
It's possible that you just need some computer work done and you might get by without replacing anything.

This thread has a little more info on what I mean:

try here too:

Just do a throttle body sync. These 750's are cake for that problem.

Finally had a free minute to post.
1. Turn ignition to position 2, wait 3-5 seconds
2. Push the throttle pedal all the way down and activate kick down switch, hold it for 3-5 seconds
3. Let off the pedal completely, wait 3-5 seconds
4. Push the throttle pedal all the way down and activate kick down switch, hold it for 3-5 seconds
5. Let off the pedal completely, wait 3-5 seconds
6. Turn off ignition, wait at least 10 seconds.
Will try that. Awesome.

I can could kiss you right now. I kid you not Didn't work the first few times, third time lucky and all that and she fired right up, throttle working perfect, and to my suprise, no more engine failsafe message. Thank you brother!
Glad for the V12 guys on here!
I screwed up my throttle adaptaions messing around with INPA a while back. Drove me nuts for 2 days. I think it was psjr that posted the same info and helped me out back then lol. Good to hear it was something simple das leg. And thanks psjr

Does this do anything for the V8's?

I know this is an old thread, but it's one that saved my rear. I lost an alternator, but was able to "limp" home. But as we know the low voltage throws all kinds of errors. So I was in inpa clearing all sorts of errors and got overly aggressive and went down the same path as others here. Engine fail safe and no pedal response is not a good feeling. Psjr's fix worked perfectly and the relief I felt when I first revved that engine!! Love this forum!

I see a couple say this worked on the 2nd or 3rd try. For me it worked on the 1st try but then the battery went dead. So I replaced the battery but now I got no throttle again. I tried the steps above but now it doesn't work. So I took it a local bmw shop and I'm getting Fault code
0050 (050) 32 Pedal travel Sensor, basic adaptation
0026 (026) 1A Pedal travel Sensor 1, signal
0027 (026) 1B Pedal travel Sensor 2, signa

Anyone have any ideas?

So as the title says I am having no luck with fixing my '96 E38 750 with the same problems. Unfortunately the kickdown has never worked on the car so this process doesnt help me out!!
1. Turn ignition to position 2, wait 3-5 seconds
2. Push the throttle pedal all the way down and activate kick down switch, hold it for 3-5 seconds

Does anybody know how i can reset the throttles using INPA or DIS? I have full versions of both but don't really use them so am a little lost as to how to fix this
Thanks in advance
Simon
Pat57woods, were you able to find out the cause and/or the solution for those “PEDAL TRAVEL SENSOR” and “ BASIC ADAPTION” Fault Codes you listed in this thread.
I changed my starter and my EML Light came on. I had the car scanned and I am getting the SAME EXACT list of Fault Codes.
My e31 is a 1997 850ci / M73 Engine with the Siemens EML Module and NO Kick Down Switch. So the pedal sequence of holding down the pedal for 3-5 seconds and activating the kick down switch, etccc.. has just NOT worked for me AT ALL.. This is driving me CRAZYYYY!!
Do you PLEASE have any info or suggestions Brother?? Thank you in advance!!
