BMW e38 2001 740iL "Engine Fail Safe Program"

Just got this message a couple of days ago and the car is running very rough... This is the P-Code P1634 - 'Throttle Valve Adaptation Spring Test Failed'. What is the fix for this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Cap3056

Change your throttle body with a new one or good used one. Very easy swap, only 4 bolts. May need a new gasket as well.

If anyone is still dealing with the P1634 code on the 740i I had this code recently come up on a 740iL we got for a flip at the auction. If you cleared the codes it would come right back up. Run like shit in limp mode etc. I removed the connector for the throttle actuator on the TB and cleaned it with contact cleaner and the car now runs great. I'll post up if the fix works in the long run (for however long we have the car!)
