    F1 Barcelona Test - 2015 Pre-Season Test 2 - Days 1-4

It would appear that Nasr and Wolff had an accident on track. Note only 3 cars were running at the time.

Mercedes Drivers Nico and Lewis, are both injured/ill so the test driver will be used.

    Force India is there.

Yep, according to Wolff, she "hadn't seen Nasr coming up."

eh, accidents happen. Especially when the rookies (testers) are given only a couple of days a year to gain experience.

Obviously Romain and Pastor shouldn't be racing with their "accident" history

    Lol @RB.

More McLaren Honda problems - they may not have meaningful run until Saturday. Or Brazil at this rate...

Anybody knows what was going on with Hamilton and Mercedes? They managed to complete only 11 laps. The only report I see is that he wasn't feeling well to continue furthermore.

Lewis was running a fever. Or, so Mercedes would have us believe.

The car broke down in the hands of Warlbarglll! Perhaps Lewis tears aren't the best fuel.

Nico Rosberg and his wife are expecting a baby girl in August.

Other than that just a normal day for everybody.

Still one of my top three gripes. When those rules came down, I couldn't help but to wonder what in the hell they were thinking.

GRO's rookie season was a prime example. Take a talented, young driver, give him a glorified PC game to play for awhile, toss him the keys to a new car for a few hours and then expect him to start in Oz with anything other than a blank stare and a half-cognizant thought along the lines of "...I press this and hold that when the red lights go out, right?"

Totally agree. Perhaps not the unrestricted testing but at least let the rookies drive last year's cars.

What is it about the MGU-K seal that Mclaren can't get right? It almost seems more like a poorly designed/fitted part than strictly a seal issue (gross oversimplification, yes).

A productive day for Mclaren yesterday completing 59 laps. However, today they had faced similar problem with the seal so only managed to do 24 laps.

And Alonso crashed this morning. He's okay, but I haven't read why he crashed into the interior wall between turns 3 and 4, unless the car just snapped coming out of 3.

McLaren just states that he crashed.

Someone mentioned a strong gust of wind that pushed the car into the wall.

He was dizzy when the marshals found him. He stayed in the car until medical arrived. They then transported him to the track medical facilities. In case of concussion they then airlifted him to a hospital. Now they are stating that he's staying at the hospital overnight to monitor him.

Vettel was right behind him when he crashed. Vettel states that Alonso was going slowly on the exit of Turn three (about 150 Km/h) when the car suddenly swerved right into the wall. He said it was "strange".

The rest is just speculation re:
passing out, electrical shock, or car problem.

I think they airlifted him due to protocol and kept him overnight as a precautionary measure. Nothing has been reported that Alonso suffered any serious injury.

2 nights now in hospital and from what I am gleaming around on the net, it appears something more may be going on.

McLaren even had a press release denying there was an electrical short in the car causing problems for Alonso. It was also reported Alonso was "very agitated" at the track and sedated before taken to hospital which I find odd.

It has also been reported his impact was a 16G (or over 30G depending on reports) impact and he has a concussion.

All through all of this McLaren just keeps saying nothing to see here move along.

    Odd indeed.

I for one hope Alonso is o.k. and this is indeed a precaution.

I'm totally putting on a tinfoil hat now - protocol says you have to be sedated before getting on a helicopter, and a gust of wind forced Alonso (ALONSO!) to snap hook his car into a wall?

I can see the traction issue if he ran slightly wide, but McLaren is going with wind? Old Ron Dennis is exacting some type of revenge...

Yeah, I imagine they are keeping him for observation due to concussion risks. I don't think anything fiendish is going on.

He took a massive sideways impact that the car isn't designed for. So they are being careful.

All I can say is hope and pray he's alright and comes back soon. Let us not forget Bianchi too.
