    Instrument Cluster Plugs

I'm in the process of swapping the instrument cluster on my '83 733i and I encountered one small problem. I have two of these little clips that appear to clip onto the slit in the circuit board, but my board only has one slit so which one do I need to connect? There's a clip with a single blue/white wire which ties into the large blue plug and there's a clip with a blue/green, blue/yellow, and solid yellow wire on its own. Pics below...

    Thumbs up

Where did you find this cluster?

The blue wired one should be for the cruise control input...and increases the volume on the ECE cars with equipped radios (such as the Becker units).

Do you have the ETM yet for this car?
    I make E23 parts.

Thanks for the link, I found out where they go, under the little black door on the back of the cluster.

Guess I didn't edit quick enough ha ha, I'm pretty sure they're the same, I just had to open the little door on the back. I appreciate the help, Eric.

    HI...
I've got the same problem - I took the cluster out and there are two little clips and there is only one place to plug in...I didn't see any Black Door that you could open?? There are little door tabs that you can snap off to access the board edge, but on mine there is only one door snapped off under where it ways tempo...

One clip has a single wire that is brown with a red stripe, and the other has two wires blue with yellow stripe and a red with a yellow stripe..

    Any ideas??

    ThanksAttachment 617711

The blue yellow is the speed information that goes to the OBC and cruise and goes to the one open spot opposite of the way you would think. the wire comes out of the connector pushed up against the cluster, not away from the cluster. The other blue connector one is not used.

Thanks so much... I'll just leave the brown wire w/red stripe hanging in there...and connect the other.
I took the cluster out to see if I could figure out why the temp and fuel gauge are pinned to the right but nothing obvious...?? Any thoughts on that??
    Thanks again...really appreciate the coaching...
