I haven’t run the 245’s. They def won’t fit under my stock fenders on the 9.5’s. I could fit them if I bought 9 wheels. But I honestly don’t think they’ll be faster at that point. The 225 is really like a 255 and easily fit the nasa 266 tool that I need for tt4 class this year.
The 245's fit on my 8.5's fine and pass the NASA 266 tool for TT4 too. I did need to roll the rear fenders pretty aggressively as well as clearance the inner fender a little.
Wider tires are faster, even on smaller wheels. Period. Look up Vorshlags results on this, every time they went wider, they dropped substantial time.

Thanks Pat. I have run that 245 with a 9, 9.5 and 10 inch rim racing in ST4. With the new rules, cannot use my 9.5 or 10 inch rims with a 245. I would bet that the 225's on the 9.5's would have about the same grip as the 245 on a 9 as the 245 Hoosier bulges pretty extensively on the 9, wasting some tread. I would not run a 245 Hoosier on a 8.5 inch rim.
Just another information point: I have run the 245 and 275/35 17 A7 and R7s for a year, with no issues, on an 8.5" wheel. The 275 bead is offset inwards from the sidewall, almost like designed in, like a cantilever slick.
I'm forced to run 17x8.5s as the max width; the 245 and 275s are absolutely awesome on that 8.5" rim.

That's wild. I have my 225/40/17s mounted up on 9" wheels and the tread is dead square on the wheel. Hoosier says their tread width is 9" so makes sense. I can't fathom a 275. I believe you though, maybe i'll try a 245 next time.
