Hi,
I picked up a 1990 750i more than a year ago. Have done a lot of work on the car already and hope to post it all here. Now she got 260k on the clock but still have some rust issue on the body. I started with dropping rear subframe, drive shaft and exhaust. I cleaned the chassis and looked for any rust. I found rust in all four jack points and both sides on front foot wells but also on spare wheel floor.
The plan:
- already cut all rust away
- almost every sheet metal repair parts done or purchased
- repair rear trailing arm bushes
- repair leaking heating core pipes
- repair ihka servomotor fasteners
- and do a lot of other repairs
I will start off with some pics that i took in last summer.

What are the wheel sizes and the brand?
Exhaust is not standard? It has round end pipes not the square ones normally on a 750.

Can you post the last 7 numbers of the VIN, then I will check the details how the car was ordered, optional extra etc.

Great looking car! The wheels look fantastic. Looking forward to seeing more of this build.
I'd be curious to hear an M70 with a fairly open exhaust.

Here's few pics when i replaced cylinder number 7 and 8 hydraulic valve lifters.. Before that engine start to ticking very annoyingly on idle.
At the same time i cleaned and restored both cylinder head covers. I replaced also fuel hoses to new ones because those hoses were baldy hardened. I had to replace also cracked rubber adapters on both covers which holds crankcase volume control valves in place. And one o-ring on the steel pipe which is located between cylinder banks. They look like brand new now.

Sir, you have one very large bag of balls, i like your work!
Passenger side rear wheel housing. There was rust only in few spots and here you see what i had to cut.
I had to cut the rear panel of the upper side of the bumper also because it was rusted from the inside out.
Here's all passenger side repair parts what i had to made.
repaired spare wheel housing.
Little progress

Great job on the repairs! Do they use salt on the roads in Finland? Others should make note and check the corresponding areas on their vehicles as well.
I have only found the one spot http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...enger%92s-side. Once you find a spot that is rusting out from inside you can't just fix it without finding the cause, and fixing that as well. Otherwise it'll need doing again, as with my floor.
Very nice work.. did you hand form all of your patch panels, or cut some from donor vehicles?
Derek k. Yes here is used for road salt in the winter. The car is imported to finland in 2006 and has not been never driven in the winter in finland.
Kansei. i did all the patch panels by my self.
Great metalworking skills!
Rust removal progressing.
I used the acid self-etching primer to surfaces what were bare metal and on top i used the polyurethane paint.
Next thing is to put seam sealer on joints and then spray the correct body paint on top.
I found that Duplicolor Bed Armor is great for the last coat. "Do-It-Yourself Truck Bed Liner is a water-based, rubberized polyurethane coating. It is ideal for protecting truck beds, and all other metal, aluminum, fiberglass, and wood surfaces. Bed Armor is the only do-it-yourself truck bed liner formulated with DuPont™ Kevlar®"
http://www.duplicolor.com/products/bedArmor/
I used this on the inner wheel wells, inside the fenders and on the exterior of the floors and trunk on one of my cars and bullets bounce off. It's great for undercoating. But prep the parts right or you'll be peeling it off in a few years.
That is certainly useful stuff, but I think that I use the factory system for the protection..
here is few new pictures
