    fog light switch help please

So i got my fog lights wired in on the bumpers end and found the switch is not wired so i have the wire diagram but was wondering if any one knows how to wire it up or could post a photo of a working switch? Mine is the pull knob switch not the button one.

Are you looking at the wire diagram that's linked from the faq/diy thread?
If not, you should, because it's much easier to read.

Also, when it comes to custom wiring, you're pretty much on your own, while following the wire diagram.

The OE fog lights run through a relay and two fuses, via the unloader relay. If you look at the wire diagram, you'll see this.

I believe your car has pre-installed power wires for the fog lights? don't quote me on that though.
Check if the relay and fuses are installed too.

    I'll quote you

yes they were prewired. tie into the existing wires behind the grill, add an relay to the empty space, couple of fuses and you'll be good to go.

Mine doesn't have existing wires behind grill so I just wired them up to the low beams. Can't use the on/ off switch that what though. Someday I will add or find the wire that comes off the fog light fuses.

I'd imagine if your fusebox has a slot for fog light relay and fuses, the fog light wires should be there somewhere, maybe taped up in the bundle to keep the dirt out of the plugs

Well thats what i thought as well i have the fuses in the relay but when i looked under the dash the switch has no wires going into it
so i just need to track down the wireds and get them set up to the switch. Looks like a PO might have messed with it.

    Hi Tom, or anybody else

What wire colors do GY and YL represent?
These are the wires colors going to the fog light switch (from the ETM wire diagram)

    gray - yellow

I pretty sure the switch came with the fog light option and would not be there if it didn't have lights at some time.

yup, just looked it up, the switch was optional.

yellow wire from the headlight switch to the fog switch via connector C63 and then a gray wire going from the fog switch to the fog relay terminal 85, but first through connector C20f

I see that GDAus helped with a diagram in another thread.

Here are pdf file copies of the wire diagrams that were linked in the diy/faq thread.
