    I don't see how you could avoid an oil leak in that spot without using the crush washer.

    For some reason on the S52 cars some crush washers such as these and the power steering hoses are listed on the S50 cars but not the S52. Nonetheless they are the same parts.

    Note that both aluminum and copper crush washers can be reused if you anneal them first. Use needle nose pliers to hold them in a gas flame until they begin to glow, then let them cool naturally. New is nice, and I do keep various common sizes on hand in the garage. But when it's 10 at night and you're trying to button up the job but don't have a new one to use...
