    Hey all,

I apologize for my(our) 5 month hiatus. Summer 2018 has been nothing short of insane. The e39 NBT development didn't stop but slowed down a LOT. Only thing really done with the E39's NBT in that time period was finding a better way to mount the display(hacked up F10 bezel) which is purely there for function. Was *not* worried about form here lol.

There were a lot of events that attributed to this:

-Ken's E39 M5 decided it wanted to have the entirety of it's driveline serviced, from starter, clutch, flywheel, RMS, all the way back to the diff seals and subframe bushings.
-Various issues with all 3 cars that currently reside at my place, the E61, E39, and the LGT
-Various side gigs on N63 powered 550's
-Ken's GF's E60 decided some time ago that it was going to leak water from the sunroof cassette. This went undetected long enough to ruin nearly ever piece of the interior that wasn't hard plastic so we elected to go all in with a top to bottom interior swap using various E60 M5 and E66 parts, dyed the dashboard silverstone, the rest was replaced with silverstone/black, plus the addition of NBT. This alone was nearly two months worth of work, it was no small feat, and NBT is still not done in the E60; functional, but not done. We're gluttons for punishment, I tell ya.

All this said, I'm glad to see the thread is alive and well. We hope to be able to continue contributing as we get closer to winter. Photos below aren't even close to all of what was taken over the summer, only what will fit in this post.

Hello, great Job! I‘m really impressed!
At the moment I‘m trying to get also a running NBT on my Desch. I would like to use it later at my E31, but it a special car with engine and transmission from a E38. So I want to use NBT and iDrive Controller stand-alone.

At the moment there are at least two main problems - I ‘ m a beginner!!

    1. I ‘ m using a Raspberry Pi 3B with Pican2 interface and I connected it to a BMW NBT head unit high from a F10 of 2014. It was possible for me to get the NBT starting. I was sending with cansend the CAN wake up command 130#4540 in order to wake up the device. Nothing happens. With can dump on channel 1 I saw the command. I connected the Bus with 500 baud. What should I do or send ? Is it the right way to connect PICAN2 directly to NBT can Bus with two 120 Ohm resistors for terminating the Bus?

    2. To use NBT at the E31 I have to use at maximum a 6.5” CID Display from a BMW F30. How can I run it on NBT high?

I would be very glad if you can give me some support!

    Thank you in advance!

    Dear Ralf

Can somebody tell me if in the e38/39 you have the rdc tyre pressure monitor does this come through to the nbt? Or cannit without to much hassle?

Although specific to rdc I also wonder about rpa too? Also is there anyway for the oil display to work? Thanks

Sooo are 3d maps & Tmc pretty much hit or miss with the nbt system? Is anyone getting really robust 3d maps?

Hi all - hope everyone is well...

Question would this work in any way if I did not connect the ibus wire but connected everything else?

So who has an EVO up and running reliably? Mine has been in boxes for the last couple years. Just curious who got it going.

    4 BMWs.
In short order this upgrade will be as obsolete as those who retro'd the e38/39/46/53 NAV systems into their cars.

Then stick to your POS stock head unit, why even bother coming in this thread?

It may well look nice and the work going into getting it working is admirable, but he’s not wrong. Am/FM/DAB/X(whatever) is quickly becoming obsolete in favour of internet radio.

Pretty much what GenericUserid said. I've been around these parts long enough to remember other upgrades such as this that haven't aged so well too. Great effort though.

Lol there's been internet radio in iDrive since CCC.

Sirius, XM, Spotify, Pandora, etc. are all accessible.
