NBT/CIC/CCC retrofit in E39/E38/E53

Hey guys,

Shady (@theshafro) just got me set up with the first set of e39 center console and bezel trim custom made for NBT and I couldn't be happier. This stuff looks totally factory and everything is mounted so solid that you would be hard-pressed to tell that this didn't come from the factory way back in 2003. I have the piano black (a bit of metallic in it) trim in my car and he matched the paint perfectly. The e60 hazard and central lock buttons work great and look even better than the stock ones. To say I'm impressed with the build quality is a huge understatement. You should all be lining up to get a set of these, I really mean that. The bezel looks like a completely OE piece and fits the dash like the original nav screen would. There is a bracket for the screen to mount it in the stock bracket, then the bezel sticks on with magnets. It sits flush with the dash as it should and is way easier to install than the method I had been using for the longest time.

There are a few caveats to installing it, but they are easily overcome. You might want to purchase a used center console piece so you don't have to modify your original one, in case you want to sell it or keep the original. I got one at a local pull a part for $10. You'll need to cut it down to just leave the back portion from the edge of the wood/plastic trim back. If you use a wood console, I highly recommend removing the wood first from the base, because this will allow you to cut off the tabs and such cleanly with a dremel without risking making a rough edge that meets up with the new console. Other than that, there is no custom modifying of any stock parts. He even supplied a custom wiring adapter for the two plugs for the hazard and central lock to go into a single plug for the new switch. I don't know if that is planned for his kits, but I would think it would.

Yeah Im pumped about reading this, my dynavin N6 just ain't cutting it and at the price point I paid the software should still be a priority still.

Anyways, this is now top of my xmas list.

FINALLY got to cut the console trim and test fit my controller panel. Fitment came out 100% perfect.

The console has to be machined out to fit my panel and some of the plastic under needs to trimmed. (I will be offering this CNC service)

The panel is bolted from up top using some stainless steel countersunk hex screws. I personally love clean exposed hardware, but they can covered with a wrap, paint, etc; will be up to the customer.

I was worried about the components or wiring crashing into the HVAC tube below, but everything fit with 0 issues.


The bezel uses my same "magsnap" style as the E39 version: bracket->monitor->bezel.

Panel is CNC machined out of 6061 aluminum, bezel kit is steel and ABS.

I haven't made anything for the X5 yet, sorry! I do have the center console and bezel. I'll get to them ASAP. I've been working on my wiring kits for new customers looking for a full plug and play option. I'll post some pictures soon.
