Yeah... I already mounted my USB panel somewhere else.
Damn @theshafro, your work is nothing short of spectacular
Think I'm gonna give this a shot. I have ibus and Canbus things here and I should be able to program the pi to work with nbt. I have tried the GitHub above but kept getting an error when running it.
Before I start buying things, Does anyone know if this f30 6.5 inch cid will work? They're cheap and can be had for about $40.
I think 6.5's are only for CIC and NBT_Entry.
You can actually get the F10 10.25" screen for about $60 from junkyards if you call around. If you have the patience to ask for pictures, you might be able to find one without scratches.

Finally trying the E53 mount. I'll update later tonight on fitment. Let's see how close/far I get.

Still ordering parts. What cables is everyone running from the screen to the nbt since it has to be moved to the trunk?
I recall seeing this build of someone using an f30 screen in their build. I'm guessing I'll have to flash the nbt to get it to work since it's a newer screen?
Unless you want to cut into your dash to mount that screen. Get an F10 or F15 for this style: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...8#post30380568

In case anyone is interested, I have a setup from an F01 for sale (10.25" screen). It just needs the idrive controller. I was going to put this into my E38 but just don't have the time. PM me if interested.

Got it finished. But need to tweak the fitment and re-print. I'll try again in a few days.

I got my NBT HU today (still waiting on controller, screen and connector) and I think I got it running in about an hour via canbus.
I used an old Xbox 360 power supply to test on 12V on my bed lol.
yellow jumper to power
Green jumper goes to ground
Two twisted wires (Can high and can low) goes into the can transceiver that I use to send messages to the Canbus.
Blue cable goes to my laptop and powers the transceiver.
From what I've seen, the nbt powers up on 12V but goes to "sleep" after a few seconds if it doesn't detect can messages.
Got it working by sending the following every 500ms
Tested and the nbt stays on as long as I'm sending those messages. If I plug out the transceiver the nbt turns off. I Think I should be able to figure out the rest and test further when the rest of parts get here.
Whats the purpose of the "emulator" that everyone is using?
