So many similarities to my M20 swap: mounted the coil the same, + terminal junction box, C101 plug mounted in the same spot, even the same bends in the engine hoist hook. Makes me feel good about how I laid mine out.

Mine was bent from lifting the engine and trans together with the engine hoist. I should have used a load leveler.

Mine bent from doing the same thing. I even used a load leveler too. It has been lifted with hoist many times, so I imagine it is getting pretty worn from bending so many times. Will definitely get replaced if it ever needs to be lifted again.

Great work! Are you running the registered version of tunerstudio? I've been contemplating paying for the extras that come with the paid registration, but I'd like to see someone else do it first and let me know it is worthwhile.
Yes I am and it's definitely worth while.

I did not see a coolant over flow tank ?
M42 radiator has it built into it. Attached to drivers side of radiator.

Good progress this weekend. Got the seat belts bolted down, rear strut brace/battery tray welded in, new battery strapped down & electrical taped/wire loomed all the exposed wires in engine bay. Also got the front end back together with signals and HIDs working as they should.

Yup you got it. And that is pretty interesting about overflow tank setups. Didn't know that about e36s.

Hey bassboy... Random question. Where'd did you get your profile photo? I'd love to see more (high res) pictures of that car.

Took her to the local bmw picnic we have every year and not one hickup. Felt so nice to drive! Definitely gets up and goes and is totally controllable through the slidy corners too. What a blast!!
Lower hose clamp was loose, so tightening that hopefully has fixed the leak. I also took the turbo off to try and fix an exhaust leak. Using ultra copper gasket sealant as amother layer of sealing hopefully fixed that as well. Waiting till tomorrow to fire it up so the sealant has full time to cure. Put turbo blanket on as well.
Got some more goodies in the mail too.
UUC EVO3 shifter. After feeling this shifter in a friends car I had to have one. Got a hell of a deal on it off ebay too.
Electronic boost controller and db15 harness to control boost through megasquirt.

Shifter feels amazing now! So much crisper and tight. Definitely worth it.
Did some surgery to my megasquirt ecu today. Been wanting to have megasquirt control the cooling fan, but never knew how to get it working. After talking with Keith, the guy who made the unit, turned out to be easier than I thought.
Had to solder in 2 wires in order to have relay control from a spare pin on the db15. After doing that and buttoning the ecu back up, just had to run the ground wire from a 40A relay to the correct pin on db15 connector and tweak the settings in tunerstudio.
I am having one issue tho which I believe I found the culprit. With ignition off, the radiator fan will run constantly. With ignition on, it turns off unless engine temp is higher than allowed through MS. I then realized that I wired the relay to be constant power for both +12v pins. Which makes sense why the fan is running constantly when ignition is off. I'll have to run another switched source wire to the relay tomorrow morning to see if that solves it.
I also need to figure out the boost control settings since I got an error in tunerstudio when I turned it on with default settings.

First time seeing this build! Wow, that went nicely. How did the soundproofing work for you and what variety did you use? Not fond of the old insulation myself. And do you have any other pictures of the m42 radiator install? I picked one up to put it in my car

Thanks! Not so much soundproofing as it was heat blocking. I just laid down some aluminum backing tar paper in key heat areas. Does great so far and not as noisy as I figured, so worked both ways I guess. I don't really have any other pics of radiator. Used 2 of the small e30 rad mounts, cut slots in frame rail for them to mount and had to get creative with hoses. Nothing too bad.
