May have been covered before - but search didnt turn up anything of value..
Just bought a magnetic (key) case for my son's IX - Where is a good place to stash a spare key on the E30 body?
Up under the valence? If it has diving boards, inside the bumper? Idk. I always kept mine in the door pocket because I was young and dumb.
maybe in the engine area near the fuse box .... but then you would need access to a big screwdriver to pop the hood if you ever wanted to get to the hidden key
... forty-three years of driving before I get behind the wheel of a BMW .... and I am thinking, "why did it take me so long?"
... and then after another 4 years I can't believe that I have two of them !!
if it's got diving boards you could secure it to the inside of the back somehow, is this a flat key with no plastic? maybe put it inside bumper trim so you have to take that off to get to it? behind a foglight? taped to the inside of plastic wheel well guard/trim? there arent really any good places to hide one without at least a screwdriver on hand. tightly tie it with wire or ziptie to the oil filter? you'd need a jack to get to it. maybe somehow secure it to the o2 sensor, sandwitched in between the heat shield? Secure it to a bumper shock? wrap it in rubber and put it nice and tight behind a license plate? inside a wheel center cap? I'm just thinking.
I say label that magnetic box 'CB1340 antenna', slap it on the roof and call it a day
Behind the metalwork of the rear bumper. Center or above the pipes.
@ true value hardware - or a good locksmith there is a key BMW-2 (sm & flat) - put it in ur wallet !
dive boards are alum- no stick w/ magnet. find a GOOD plastic key case drill hole & bolt on inside of D boards.
Definitely not anywhere described in a public post on the internet. :p

I actually ended up putting the key in a magnetic box above the muffler exit in the rear lower metal valance.. if anyone else was interested... been there 2 years.
