Interesting about those LED lights. This one I assume? So how do you diffuse the light?

I would get some "frosted" thin acrylic from your local TAP Plastics or sign shop. Maybe two depending on how much light is does/does not let through. Ideally you just don't want a bunch of individual light points, you want a continuous "bar" of light.
Here's another few cars with my buddies M4 included as well. The blue and black ones have been joining us for events lately.
